Moo Deng Celebrates Her First Birthday: Inside Her 4-Day Bash | E! News

Mudang is celebrating a milestone. The pygmy hippo that has captured the hearts of everyone due to her adorable antics is celebrating her first birthday. In true Mudang style, the hippo is blissfully unaware to the celebrations going on around her at her home, Thailand’s Cowoko Open Zoo. For the next four days, the zoo will celebrate the viral hippo, whose name roughly translates to bouncy pig, with a 44 pound hipposized cake made of her favorite fruits and veggies, photo ops with larger than-l life mudang mascots, a charity auction, and a parade. The zoo says all proceeds from the auction will go towards a wildlife conservation fund. The baby hippo has seen her popularity take off this year with thousands of visitors lining up to get a glimpse of the glistening creature with the zoo selling out mudang merchandise including a themed button-up shirt and pants. The hippo has also left her mark on pop culture with even SNL’s Bow and Yang paying tribute dressed as the animal while making callbacks to Chapel Ron’s stance on boundaries with the public. For the past 10 weeks, I’ve been going nonstop, running around, eating lettuce, trying to bite the hose from a water, the water from a hose.
