RHOC’s Emily Simpson Details 10-Year-Old Son’s Eating Disorder | E! News
The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Emily Simpson is opening up about her son’s eating disorder. The reality star described her son’s Luke’s restrictive food intake disorder in a July 10th confessional, saying, “Luke has always been a picky eater, but it’s gotten to the point, I would say, over the last year, it’s just he doesn’t eat at all. Do you want chips or do you want some goldfish or something?” I am not hungry. You’re not hungry? 2 months ago, I took Luke to a therapist. She told me that he definitely has ARFID, which stands for avoidance restrictive food intake disorder. The nutritionist was explaining to me he doesn’t understand that he feels hungry. Food in general disgusts him. Emily is also mom to daughter Annabelle and Luke’s twin, Keller, with her husband of 15 years, Shane Simpson. She added that not only does Luke’s disorder affect his food intake, but it also affects his sense of smell. She also asked me, “Is he very susceptible to smells?” And I said, “Yeah, like we’ll walk into somebody’s house and he’ll be like, “It stinks in here.” And I’m like, “You can’t say that.” But we have to be more accommodating and lenient when it comes to him because he doesn’t process the idea of eating like we do. And Emily shares her fears and concerns in a confessional. I do worry about Luke because I say, “Do you want this?” “No, Mom. I’m starving.” “Do you want this?” “No.” Oh no. What do I do? I don’t know what to do. He doesn’t eat anything, but he’s starving. I’m worried that he’s not getting the nutrition he needs. I’m worried that he’s like the weird kid at school that doesn’t eat and everybody’s going to make fun of him. And I want my child to be happy. That’s it. [Music]

I'm sorry Emily. It must be so hard to deal with just nutritional wise. He's a growing boy. I guess your not supposed to force him, what does a doctor tell you to do? I mean it's not like being bulimic or anorexic
A speech pathologist can work with him on his food aversions, expanding his palate and desensitize some of his sensitivities. A form of feeding therapy.
I hope she continues to speak up about this and support her son. Sheβs gotta be worrying all the time
What did Emily do to her face
If your kid is hungry enough theyβll eat! This is is nuts

One of my sons was like that, all he wanted was pizza and happy meals. I told the doctor, and she said " if that's what he wants give it to him as long as he's eating that's the important thing" he grew out of it. Also don't make it a thing, be casual about it act like it's normal, okay and acceptable. He will be fine.
