‘The Gilded Age’ Stars Reveal Why Ada & Agnes Are Careful Around Disgraced Aurora Fain #shorts

you have this really beautiful push and pull between like what is correct and what the heart feels I feel like is when Aurora comes in the first episode and tells them that she’s getting a divorce obviously they want to be team Aurora but you see them already struggling to navigate what that means for social standing can you guys take me through why you think initially they reacted sort of like well you can come to dinner but not when people are around on Agnes you’ll ask Aurora to your dinners won’t you well if the divorce goes through she may not want to come in a group she may be happier alone we are people of standing and and some wealth but we are little fish in this big pond and somebody somebody like Mrs fish you know who has who is much wealthier and much more you know or obviously Mrs aster have the power to change these rules but we really don’t right if Mrs aster says it’s okay then maybe it’s okay but it’s unlikely she would except that her own daughter is in that predicament but um I think Agnes is a realist when it comes to how the rules are played out in that society and until they change you play by those rules or you you tarnish your own reputation i mean even the come to dinner alone is a is going out on a bit of a limb but you know in their defense what we would not want would be to have a dinner party to have Aurora come and to everyone suddenly oh you know I’m sorry I left the oven on i have to go

Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon says the sisters’ comments to Aurora are indicative of where they fall in society’s pecking order.
