Royals Recap: Prince George looks just like Prince William in new photo for 12th birthday

Prince George has officially turned 12 years old and in honor of his milestone birthday, his family has released an adorable new portrait of him that was taken in Norfolk. However, interestingly enough, the image was not taken by his mother, Princess Kate, but rather a professional photographer who has worked with the Wales family on a number of occasions over the years. Josh Sha has photographed the Prince and Princess of Wales as well as their children, including taking the portrait that they used for their family Christmas card back in 2023. He also took a stunning portrait of Princess Kate back in May, which he posted on his Instagram account, saying that the two of them had enjoyed a lovely leafy stroll together. Now, while Kate and William didn’t reveal the exact location of George’s portrait, it’s likely that it was taken on a property that the two of them own and regularly use on weekends and for holidays. The home, which is known as Anahal, is essentially a weekend getaway for William, Kate, and their children, and is understood to have been the location where Kate spent much of her time while she was recovering from her cancer treatment. But the photo wasn’t the only birthday gift that we received. In fact, the family also shared an adorable behind-the-scenes video that was taken of George with his two siblings, Charlotte and Louie. Honestly, the footage is even more special than the photo because it shows young George, who let’s not forget is a future king, just enjoying life as a normal 12-year-old boy. He can be seen strolling around a stunning leafy landscape with his two siblings, laughing, playing games, and at one point, he and Charlotte even pick up their younger brother in an apparent attempt to hoist him over a fence. We’ve all been there. Whether you’re royal or not, younger siblings can be a real pain. What’s also very clear from the photo is that George is growing up to be the spitting image of his father, Prince William. People went to town comparing images of William as a young boy with this latest portrait of George, and everyone has drawn the same conclusion. The two of them are essentially identical. The only difference that some have pointed out, George has better dress sense. Now, George received birthday well-wishes from pretty much everyone you can imagine and everyone you can’t. The official royal family Instagram account reposted the picture and wished him a very happy birthday. However, thus far it’s been silence from across the pond where Meghan Markle has a very active Instagram account that remained surprisingly silent despite George’s big day. But I very much doubt that their silence has hampered George’s celebration, particularly because he is in the midst of enjoying a summer holiday from school and will next year enter his final year at his current school before going off to a new institution. Perhaps he’s going to attend Eaton much like his father, Prince William, did. But as yet, it remains to be seen. As for William and Kate, they can look forward to one final year before George becomes an official teenager.

They grow up so fast! Prince George is almost a teenager, and what better way to celebrate turning 12 than with a video shoot that showcases some sibling love. People couldn’t help but notice that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s eldest son looks like the spitting image of his father in their touching Instagram tribute, which features Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte. Despite Meghan Markle’s active social media presence, the birthday boy’s aunt did not publicily acknowledge his special day.
