When filming Empire Strikes Back, only Lucas, Ivan Kershner and Mark Hamill knew on set the twist that Darth Vader was Luke’s father
When filming the scene, David Prowse (the man in the Vader costume) was told to say the line “no, Obi-Wan killed your father/is your father” (I’ve heard it said both ways but the crux of it is that Obi-Wan is mentioned)
When everyone saw the movie David Prowse was said to be livid that he wasn’t told about it because he felt he could have acted the scene better with that information

Whitney Houston producing The Princess Diaries is the kind of legendary chaos the industry needs more of.

Sorry, not really a movie fact, more of a tv one, but a hidden producer for Buffy the vampire slayer was Dolly Parton.
There’s a few fun “didn’t know he was a producer on that” examples.
Danny DeVito produced Pulp Fiction.
Mel Brooks produced The Elephant Man but took his name out because he didn’t want people to think it was a comedy.

The Terminator was originally gonna to be OJ Simpson but nobody thought they could buy him as being a cold blooded murderer type.
Also Arnold was officially considered for Kyle Reese but liked the role of the Terminator more and had all these ideas and thoughts about the character too.

Not so much a movie fun fact but rather a TV fun fact.
Sandra Bullock pitched and advocated for the George Lopez show when George Lopez expressed interest in having his own sitcom. She became executive producer for the show and also fought for the storylines the show had. That’s also why she would randomly appear as Amy on the show.

Orlando Bloom allegedly couldn’t lift the swords in Kingdom of Heaven so the armourer had to recast lighter ones for him. I heard this from another armourer so maybe take with a pinch of salt.

Actors who did a movie to avoid a legal battle or was tricked into agreeing to do the movie:
**The Watcher** – Keanu Reeves (director Joe Charbanic forged Reeves’s signature on his contract to do the film)
**Dogville** – Paul Bettany (Stellan Skarsgard lied to Bettany that working on a Lars von Trier set would be a fantastic experience and that everyone will have fun partying all the time. And yeah, Bettany [didn’t have fun ](https://www.theguardian.com/film/2013/may/30/paul-bettany-lars-von-trier)making Dogville)
(For those who may not be aware: Lars von Trier was admitted to a care centre early this year due to Parkinson’s, but he apparently plans to direct another film this year)
**The Sixth Sense**, **Armageddon**, **The Kid** – Bruce Willis (he did these films to avoid being sued by Disney for shutting down the filming of Broadway Brawler with his unprofessional behaviour on set)
**Top Gun** – Val Kilmer (with his second film (Real Genius) not yet released, he didn’t want to do Top Gun until Paramount’s legal dept reminded him that he was contractually obliged to do one more Paramount film. Didn’t help that his own agent who also represented Tom Cruise threatened to drop him as a client if he refused to do the film)
On a lighter note, Cillian Murphy lobbied to appear in Tron: Legacy because he was a major Tron fan. Hence his uncredited cameo.
