Harrison Ford on Trump’s presidency & the current state of the U.S.: “In politics and in life, you don’t always get what you want, but you get what you get and you don’t get upset. They teach us that in kindergarten, but they also teach you to fight for what you think is right.”

Me reading that last question: why would you ask him that?
Him: you’re asking the wrong person

“Healthy swing to the right”??? Eff that. And the rest of this response is pure and absolute drivel. He doesn’t care what the politics does, obviously

“You get what you get and you don’t get upset” is quite a statement for a wealthy white guy that doesn’t have to worry that his food stamps were cut, or his health care was taken away, or that his pregnant wife might die because she can’t even get an abortion to save her life. I’m kind of sick of people that don’t have to live with any consequences telling the rest of us it’s not so bad🖕

    4. Before people hate on him, this is one of the best responses you can get from a wealthy, white 83 year old man. Like do you know how many people would kill for a grandpa this reasonable ?!?!?

Imagine that, an actor known for being private, brusque, and unempathetic gives a milquetoast statement about the resurgence of fascism in “the west”

You can really hear the PR training in those responses though.

They don’t teach this in kindergarten anymore. They teach “you get what you get, and you might get upset”.

Why do we insist that every celebrity give public statements about their political alignment? He admitted that they’re asking an unqualified person, and this is the scenario every single time someone asks a celebrity about politics. Unless they are also a politician, why do we need their hot takes?

This response is not surprising when you know what type of person Harrison Ford is. He has always comes off as a dckhead to me, even more since I’ve read Carrie Fisher’s book.

    9. Love to compromise with fascists, that can’t lead to anything bad happening

Look, he’s old and for that I can excuse this attitude because he and many other people of his age seem to have some pretty serious blinders on when it comes to current events. But yeah no, the middle being the place that’s fair to be stopped being true a long time ago if it ever was at all. When one side is calling for the death or deportation of human beings just trying to live and the other side is for equality then the middle is not at all the place of neutrality he seems to want to believe it is.

    11. He is trying to give the most safe answer possible. This is what all boomer Democrats sounds like, and it sucks. They cater to the middle and that gets us nowhere.

    12. I’m actually surprised they asked him. These questions are usually for women only and only god to have mercy o them if they reply like that

This isn’t great but I think people are misunderstanding what he means by “healthy.” I don’t think he saying he thinks what’s happening is healthy. I think he’s saying the swing to the right is strong, like it’s big.

    14. owns a bunch of land that abuts the Tetons and Snake River – donating it all to the national park service upon his death. had a river guide tell us that 15+ years ago

    15. Read all about it in Vanity Fair: Harrison Ford says nothing in particular while sounding like he’s saying something.
