I did not know this and it’s really unfortunate because so much of Mubi’s work at least originally seemed tied to cultural preservation of rare/interesting international cinema which feels like the antithesis of venture capitalists playing imperial war 😞

I’m glad there’s more pressure being applied because the nothing statement MUBI responded with when I cancelled my subscription over this was infuriating. It is ridiculous that a film production and distribution company which have platformed films like The Settlers would basically go “yeah I know we took the money but we promise it won’t affect the kinds of stories we tell 🥹” when that’s not the issue! The issue is by accepting this money from Sequoia Capital they (and by extension everyone subscribed to their service) are complicit in genocide. It’s a moral issue.

I’m glad the military/tech-genocide complex is being called out and Mubi is a joke for that ‘individual beliefs’ shit.

Sidenote: It’s amazing how all of a sudden, even Variety is writing articles about the genocide without the ‘alleged genocide’ or ‘Palestine supporters’ bias/slant.

This rag has been arguably *thee* worst of the big 3 trades in putting out pro-Israel/genocide Hollywood content and now it’s suddenly quieting down.
