    1. Understandable. But man I just assumed he would be there so I was devastated when it was announced he wouldn’t be lol.

It’s good that he’s at a place now where he can just opt out instead of putting himself through something like that

    2. Anxiety is no fun! Nothing but best wishes and no shame at all. It’s good to de-stigmatize this. Hope he has a peaceful, enjoyable evening instead.

    3. I figured as much when he said he wasn’t going to be there.

I am more interested in hearing about his physical maladies. As someone who also suffers from migraines, I have never gone temporarily blind, but I have other shit I have had to deal with.

I am also afraid of triggering shingles. Basic shingles info. It lies dormant in people who have had chicken pox. The chicken pox vaccine wasn’t widely available until 1995. There is a shingles vaccine that you can get at 50.

I admire his transparency and honesty. Sometimes, missing out on an event, where seemingly *everyone* you know will be in attendance, is for the best, especially when your mental health is at risk. Here’s to more JOMO.

    5. Sometimes I’m amazed that someone with so much anxiety can be so accomplished and successful, but then I remember that I dealt with anxiety between mild and crippling most of my life and did okay for myself.

When it’s manageable and you can channel it into your work it can almost be a positive. When it’s at its worst it’s like drowning in the void. Good for him that he chose his health over this.

As someone who also deals with anxiety really fucking with their physical health, him talking about it had me WINCING almost. Especially the stuff about the migraines. 😭 Like everyone has already said, glad he did what was best for him, tbh.
