And from 37 in between writing and directing seasons of the White Lotus, Mike White is back. Jeff Probes breaking down Mike White’s Survivor return for its season 50 milestone. The host shared his reasons with the Hollywood Reporter in an interview posted August 7th, saying he’s arguably the single best storyteller we’ve ever had and one of the most peculiar and loving people I’ve ever met. The White Lotus creator was the runner up in 2018 season 37 before bringing his passion for exotic local drama to HBO’s Emmy-winning series. Amid fans questioning the A-list edition, Jeff said the thing that’s most interesting about Mike playing, there is no hiding that he is the biggest writer, director, show creator in the world right now, and he wanted to come back and play Survivor. Jeff also wondered whether Mike’s back on the beach in search of White Lotus inspiration, saying fans should be asking what is it that Mike is learning about humans and behavior and situational ethics that he applies to his craft. Adding the fact that he said yes to Survivor still brings a smile on my face.
