Why Pete Davidson Says SNL50 Audience Was Simply “Terrible” | E! News
Pete Davidson is calling out the audience of SNL50. The comedian was one of many alums who returned to Saturday Night Live for its 50th anniversary special back in February. And he isn’t holding back when it comes to sharing his opinion of the star-studded audience for the live taping. Speaking on Late Night with Seth Meyers August 7th, Pete says, “So, I’m wondering what’s more nerve-wracking, being on stage or being the audience while everybody’s watching it?” Well, as you know from SNL 40, uh, terrible audience. Yeah, terrible audience. It is. It’s a terrible audience. It’s just famous people and famous people only like themselves. Y So, it’s true. Yeah. I’m guilty of this. I was like, I don’t care. You were I remember that when the pre-tape was playing, you were the only one laughing. Yeah. I was like, [Applause] but while in general Pete was underwhelmed by the high-profile audience’s response to the show, one highlight for him was being seated next to Meryill Street. How was uh how was Merryill uh to go through an evening like that with Merryill Rules? I hadn’t, you know, in typical SNL fashion, they don’t tell you anything. You don’t even know what’s going on. And uh I get to my seat and I just look and I’m like, this can’t be right. And uh it was Mel Street, but I just sat down and I was like, “I’m so sorry.” I’m so sorry that I’m sitting next to you. Uh you’re the best. And she was very nice. Yeah. [Music]
Pete Davidson reflected on the star-studded audience for Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary, which had him sitting next to Meryl Streep.

The program in general was terrible! The skits weren't funny, the whole show looked like it was just thrown together. I watched about a half hour and turned it off in disgust.
Program, including Davidson, were garbage.. neither funny, nor intelligent enough
