This has to be a publicity stunt, right?

They saw Sydney Sweeneys eujeanics ad and thought they needed to do something similar by using a misogynistic has-been to sell their makeup?

They didn’t even bother to give him a full beat in the commercial smh

I’m just confused why they would use someone who doesn’t publicly wear makeup as the face of their campaign. Like there’s no link to Matt Rife and makeup. What was their proof that their audience even likes him?? I think they either tried to jump on the controversial bandwagon or the people in advertising need to go back to school.

Maybe next they’ll collab with a shampoo that insults your hair choices. Bold strategy e.l.f!

Who thought beauty injustice and Matt Rife would go together like PB&J? Tone-deaf marketing strikes again!

    5. between this and the Sydney white supremacist genes I’m reaaaaaal tired of people saying “it’s not that deep” because the amount of people I’ve seen either defending or brushing it off 🫩🫩🫩

I can’t believe companies are using this as an advertising strategy.

Where my YouTube tarot girlies at cuz Antphrodite called that brands would start doing more controversial shit once they saw how much publicity American Eagle got 😂

    8. i personally do not care <3 never buying from them again regardless, they had PLENTY of PR people & crisis teams to predict the backlash. matt rife is known to be bad. either way, i heard their parent company backs the genocide, so i won’t be buying regardless 🙂 FREE PALESTINE AND FCK MISOGYNISTS 🇵🇸🩷⭐️

At this point I assume this stuff is planned for purposeful outrage to increase the exposure of the company

    10. The “here damn” of apologies.

They showed us who they are. I won’t buy from them again.

Who the fuck sat in on that pitch meeting and said, Matt Rife and makeup? BRILLIANT!

Like, this went thru several channels and NO ONE thought to say—yeah no, we’re good, next!

    12. Brands have realized that rage bait rakes in millions. To be the villain and the hero, the person who hurts and then is the one who soothes – this has been capitalism’s go to strategy to get people hooked in their chaos cycle.

They knew they’d benefit from rage – so they’re doing it. Same with Ms. Sweeny because no one cares about her in general. But now, we do.

they shouldn’t be referencing what ever it was their ads was about because no one knows or cares. it’s about that dude being there

i still won’t buy elf ❤️ never again. i encourage others to not either. brands opting to be manipulative and borderline abusive towards their customers needs to be retired NOW. these corporations won’t EVER learn unless it hurts their bottom line. there’s plenty other brands to buy from.

ETA: lets make ELF a case study on what not to do, for other brands. lets never purchase from them again. i’m calling for a boycott.
