Gladys Knight Speaks Out After Son Accuses Her Husband of Abuse | E! News
Glattis Night is shutting down what she’s heard through the grapevine after the Midnight Train to Georgia singer’s son Shanga Hankerson accused her husband William McDow of mentally and financially abusing her. She is assuring fans that she’s okay. In a statement to People magazine published on August 15th, Glattis says, “I’m sorry that my health and performances have been misrepresented.” adding, “I want my fans and those concerned to rest assured I am doing very well for someone who has been on stage for three quarters of a century.” Hard to believe, right? The 81-year-old has been touring with Patty Label, Shaka Khan, and Stephanie Mills since May with 11 shows scheduled between September and December. The statement continues, “I’m healthy and happy and visiting friends and family these last few months.” She adds, “I’m excited to get back on the road with my sisters and on stage with the Queen’s tour. See you soon.” E-News has reached out to reps for Glattis and her husband for comment and has not yet heard back. The Grammy winner’s comments come days after her son, whom Glattis shares with ex-husband Barry Hankerson, told the Shade Room that William had been making the singer continue to tour despite alleging that her cognitive health is declining. He told the outlet in an interview published August 13th. Quote, “I don’t want my mom out on tour on a tour bus wondering where she’s at. I don’t want that for her. That’s my mom. I truly love her and don’t care about her ever working a second longer while she’s alive. The direction that she’s going in is pushing her to her departure. And I don’t want to see that. [Music]

Nope she is a long musical icon and is being manipulated by her husband. He suspect elder abuse she even looks anorexic and has debilitating diabetes that can exasperate dementia and other illnesses.
