JADE calls out artists for staying silent on politics: “I don’t think you can be a pop artist and cover your eyes. I saw Matty Healy say he doesn’t want to be political, which I found disappointing. It’s very easy for someone who’s white, straight and very privileged to say that. Good for you, hun!”

While I don’t expect a lot (or anything really) from Matty Healy, I love that she spoke up about this. Being silent is being complicit and comes from a great place of privilege.

Jade hitting two birds with one stone: Matty Healy call out and being an advocate for celebrities using their voice for things that matter.

Of course a man who does a Nazi salute and proudly watches Ghetto Gaggers doesn’t want to dabble in politics

Everything’s working just as it should for him and his ilk

Every pop star, especially those with large platforms, should be taking note of this. Side eyeing ~~and head slapping~~ anyone who was “politically aware” for performative reasons and has become silent. Your silence is loud.

I never really know whether I agree with this take, sometimes I feel like celebs opinions seem to take over the narrative rather than the issue itself. I.e the media turning this into click bait of Jade vs Healy

    6. Healy is a jerk, always has been. But he’s not straight, actually. I think?

“Part of the band” has kind of misogynist tones to it, but I’m pretty sure he also mentions a gay relationship he had. Just saying. No one come for me.
