people insulting these women is interesting. Of course many women would be against not waking up, they were literally told by society from day one that their ultimate goal in life is to be the perfect traditional wife, mother and housekeeper. And yeah, these women could’ve totally been awful people or bullshitting and had maids to do shit for them but the societal standard still stands, that’s why they’d feel the need to defend it- to justify themselves in a world that did not give them worth on the basis of them being people instead of being a woman.

My grandfather would get up and feed the kids and himself while my grandmother slept in every morning (and this was 20ish years after this was published). Maybe this was just the habit of the day!
