No one prepared me for Steve Martin’s ‘Shopgirl’ describing a woman propped on the bathroom cabinet, shaving her pubes, and dipping her razor in the TOILET to rinse. Literature is a weapon.
I’m embarrassed to say that I really like the movie Shopgirl, but I can’t get behind this! This is terrible, so misogynistic… I always wondered why Steve Martin chose to tackle that particular story.

lol I love Steve Martin and read this book when it first came out. That scene stuck with me, along with the realization that his comedy medium was film, not writing.
Still love him, though 😂
