    What is your hidden gem show you recommend to everyone?


    I always recommend Miss Fisher to any and everyone! It does require an Acorn subscription, but if you love UK shows in general, the subscription is totally worth it!

      I loved Miss Fisher’s so much! I’m still waiting for season 4. Essie Davis was so good on it

      Mare of Easttown. Everyone I’ve shown it to has finished it within two days because they need to know what happens next.

      IDK if it’s a “hidden gem,” but Orphan Black. I love it so much and Tatiana Maslany’s performance(s) have to been seen to be believed.

      Mr. Robot. It was so good. Also Mind Hunter, one of my favorites ever but the cancelation forever brakes my heart.

      The New Adventures of Old Christine! It breaks my heart that it’s not on any streaming services. I ponied up the 20 bucks per season to buy the entire series on Prime Video because it’s *that* good. JLD is obviously amazing, but the entire ensemble was great—Wanda Sykes and Hamish Linklater especially.

      DOCTOR THORNE – it’s been my comfort watch for years. Probably watch it once a quarter.

      Discovery of Witches is also not talked about enough.

      Also, Damnation and Black Butterflies (French mini series). Both are on Netflix. 

      Edited to add: I didn’t realize it til just now but my Netflix account (in the USA) doesn’t have Damnation on it anymore, which is a shame.

      Coupling, British version, ridiculous sitcom kind of like friends with a dash of it’s always sunny because the characters are all a bit terrible. The American version, is atrocious, skip it.

      I don’t know if it counts as a hidden gem but Penny Dreadful. If you’re a horror (specifically gothic horror) lover then you’re gonna love this show so much

      Fisk – as an Australian there are so many underrated Aussie shows that deserve a wider audience.

      I also love Ghosts American version – it’s seems to have hit its stride so I don’t compare as much to the UK original

      joe pera talks with you… also in a similar vein (sort of) how to with john wilson. both have made me tear up truly unexpectedly and fill my heart with joy

      Travelers with Eric McCormack, it’s a Canadian sci-fi series on Netflix that ended up with 3 seasons

      The premise is that a group of time travelling operatives from the future are sent to 2018 to stop a series of events that cause the apocalyptic future they just came from

      The catch is that their minds are sent to the past and override the minds of people who historically were on the verge of dying and assume their lives. For instance, one ends up in the body of a young mother who is about to die because of her drunken boyfriend but when she “takes” the body she stops the attack and takes over her life

      Also has one character, David, who might be the ultimate selfless good guy in all of television

      Kevin Can Fuck Himself. Annie Murphy from Schitt’s creek is Allison and living a sitcom life and a drama life. It’s incredible.
