Why Prince William and Kate Middleton ‘delayed’ telling Prince George about his ‘destiny’ as king

Prince George is second in line to the UK throne. Imagine growing up knowing that. That’s why to protect his childhood, Prince William and Kate Middleton allegedly delayed telling their eldest child that he would one day be crowned the king of England. In an interview with People magazine, royal biographer Robert Lacy divulged William and Kate’s parenting tactic with their 12-year-old son, sharing that George really has had a period of a normal childhood. Lacy claimed that William delayed telling George of his fate to rule until the last possible moment, adding, quote, “It shows special care and thoughtfulness. It also tells us something about how William felt about the weight of the crown.” Lacy suggested that William has been careful with his word choice so as not to make the child feel pressure surrounding royal expectations. William is next in line of succession to the throne after his father, King Charles III, who was crowned in 2023. Experts have speculated that William is close to becoming monarch following news of his father’s cancer diagnosis in February of 2024. Sources have claimed that William may hold off passing down the Prince of Wales title to George if the pre-teen doesn’t complete finishing school before he becomes the next heir. A palace source told the magazine they would want him to focus on having freedom before giving him any royal titles. Well, if that isn’t motivation to get good grades, I don’t know what is. No pressure, Georgie. [Music]

    1. It is unlikely that this boy will ever become king. When he grows up Great Britain will be an Islamic country. And they will certainly not want a British king but will have their own leadership.
