Next Gen NYC’s Georgia McCann Details Struggle With Eating Disorder | E! News

Georgia Macccan is on the road to recovery. The NextGen NYC star is getting candid for the first time about a decade long eating disorder battle, which began in middle school as what she calls a maladaptive coping mechanism. Speaking to People August 29th, Georgia says, “A lot of people struggle with body dysmorphia, but in my case, it was always centered around control. It started for me around 8th grade. There were things going on in my home life, things happening with my hormones. I felt depressed. This was a way to take control of something during a time where I couldn’t control anything else. The reality star says she would have flare-ups every year where she’d use restrictive eating and purging to control her food intake, adding that recently she just wasn’t eating at all, even mentally training her mind and body to be repulsed by food and as her health deteriorated. Georgia says in June her friend called begging her to do something which gave her the push to seek treatment. Ultimately, the TV personality spent time at a treatment facility, which she says gave her the psychological tools to manage her eating disorder, telling the outlet, “I had to learn to love myself.” That radical acceptance, and it’s really allowed me to reframe my relationship with my body. I’m so proud of where I am today. [Music]
