Oh, no. No. Why would you? This is a crazy question. Hi, I’m Mon Exchange and I’m answering questions from the Confession Cube with Page Six. It’s going to get scandalous. Which Drag Race sister has given you the best advice about comedy? I would say that is Bianca D Rio cuz it was concise, it was great, and it was everything. Something I never thought of. She said, “Be funny.” Thank you, Bianca. You old hag. What can fans expect when they come see you on your road work tour? They can expect me being funny. Also, um I think my comedy is really lends itself to the average person that just wants to come out and laugh. Life is so Every day we wake up to some new crazy thing happening to all of us. So, it’s nice to take a break. Come sit down at a comedy club, drink a margarita, and let Monae take all your worries away with a few jokes, a few high jinks, and a few cases of laughter. Who is your alltime comedy idol? Ooh, that’s a tricky one. Okay, the first comedy special that I ever saw was Ellen Degenerous, The Beginning. And it was I think that’s where I learned how to storytell cuz I watched that comedy special over and over and over again. and her ability to craft a story and trap you and you at the end you you didn’t even realize you’ve been listening to the story for 10 minutes because you’ve been laughing the entire time and the way that she seamlessly weaves in and out. Also, Whoopy Goldberg is a really big um idol of mine. I watched her Broadway onew woman show and um that is another person again taught me how to storytell and I think I think that’s why a lot of my my comedy is built around stories and crafting stories and telling stories because those two honey if you have Whoopy and Ellen as your comedy idols you will never fail boom which guest completely shocked you by saying yes to Monae talks so far it would have to be uh Tia Maui girl when my amazing publicist told me that we had hooked Tiamari. I was like, as in sister, I’m getting one of the sisters on Monae Talks. It was incredible. She came there. She had such good energy. She gave me she gave us a little inside scoop about uh the drama going on with her and her sister. And after this is a quote, and I quote, she said, “This is the best interview I’ve done all year.” And it was September, so we were 9 months into the year, baby. That’s good. What’s harder? keeping the traitor secret or keeping draggery secrets when hosting the pit stop. I think traders is harder because when we wrath filming, all I wanted to do was tell everyone about the experience I just had. You know, I love I do game nights a lot at home and we play things like Mafia, Werewolf, Secret Ho. These these games are about like deception. So being able to play like a real live immersive version of it with cameras everywhere and like the snakeosity and the deceptsity that happens, it was incredible. I just wanted to scream from the rooftops what happened. But sooner rather than later, you guys will all see exactly what went down in that castle and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. You and Jinx Monsoon did a promo for Wicked with Ariana Grande and Cynthia Orio. What was it like meeting and working with them? First of all, let me say this, and y’all saw the footage this is. Those are some tiny ladies. Both of them in heels met me at my belly button. Okay, it truly was munchkin land up on that set doing this video with Cynthia and Ariana. It was crazy, but they were so lovely. And to, you know, cuz I’ve seen Cynthia several times when she when she did the revival of um Color Purple on Broadway, I legitimately saw the show six times. I brought my I brought my grandmother one time, my aunt one time, one woman was friends. So to see someone like Cynthia Revo, who I have revered and loved for years and meeting her in person and you know they always say don’t meet your idols, but she truly embodies everything she gives on stage. She is regal, she is royal, she is lovely, she is kind and it was and I mean Ariana, all the same goes to her and justice for Eternal Sunshine. I am so upset that it did not get any Gram Grammy noms this year because Ariana is in the new age of our divas, right? She’s one of our new divas and we’re not giving her the respect she deserves. So, Grammys, I expect in her next album if she’s not nominated for on the low end seven Grammys, we’re we’re going to storm your capital. We’re going to storm the capital in whatever city the Grammys office is and let them have it for Miss Ariana. When are we getting new music from Monaet Exchange? Well, you know, I’ve been sitting on volume two of Grey Rimmer for a little while because, you know, I’m a true multihyphenet wall. So, I’m like my focus. I’m doing comedy. I’m doing Wonder Woman shows. I’m doing talk shows and podcast. So, I want to find a time like the great Miss Kiki Palmer and find a time that works in my schedule so I can clearly only focus on music cuz I think that y’all deserve that. But volume two is done and um the world will be hearing it very soon. Look, I haven’t made a heart for you, but you know that I love you so much. just coming this right here. If Drag Race did a duos or best friends allstar season, who do you think would be you and Bob’s biggest competition? First of all, why do the would you think I would team up with Bob? Honey, I want a team of beauty and glamour. You think Bob is going to be my option? No, of course I would team up with Bob. Um, okay. Okay, so the TE’s are Trist and Katia, Da and Jinx, Violet and Gotmick, Shay and Sasha, Roxy and Detox, Kim and Naomi, Bianca and Adore, Raja and Raven, Candy and Aza, Latrice and Manila. I mean no Shay to all the other girls, but clearly the top two teams are Bob and Monet and Denon Jinx obviously. And I think the final lipstick is going to be Shup by Salt and Peppa. And Bob and I are going to destroy Jinx and Da for sure. For sure. For sure. For sure. But there’s always Allstars duos and they can try them. You’re known for your opera singing. Would you ever be open to doing Broadway? And if so, what would be your dream role of production? Okay, I thought long and hard about this, right? So, there are three roles I want to do. Number one, I know Miss Michelle Williams is going to be in the show until March next year, I think, but I think having Viola Van Horn be a beautiful baritone singer in high drag would be such a gag. Now, I’ve done the I’ I’ve I’ve sang it and it sounds great in my register. Okay. So, I think a a drag queen Beautiful Monae Exchange as Viola Van Horn in that first opening scene would be incredible. I would love to do Cole House um from Ragtime, which is coming back to Broadway. Um I Well, I would also love love love to be The Whiz. I think the Whiz being a drag queen is a mixed opportunity. Imagine that first number, right? They come into it. This is the whiz. You’re emerald city. I’m a drag. Drag drag. the biggest hair, the craziest outfits as they go off, they come back and I am fully out of drag. I’m like, “Hey, what y’all doing here?” I just, you know, I think that it will be amazing. It’s a missed opportunity. So, I know it’s on Broadway, but I’ll be down to do the tour and then we can bring it back to Broadway again. Why not? I mean, it just closed, but anyway, you you see where I’m going. I think those are three I would love to do. There’s another role. Oh, I would love love love to do Collins and Rent. I think Rent is about due for revival. The first revival, y’all, was too early. It had closed like on a Saturday and y’all tried to revive it on Sunday. I was like, “Girl, give it some time.” But now it’s been more than a decade. I think about 15 years. So, bring it back and bring your old girl to play Collins. Honey, I’ll even take a benny, but I would like to be Collins. So, I can make out with Angel on stage. That’ll be hot. Which cast member from The Traders did you bond with the most? So y’all, what I’m hearing is y’all want some inside tea, but y’all know I sounded NDA, so I’m not gonna tell you, but I will say this. Allan is really serving looks. Allan is rivaling mother on the looks. Every episode I was like, “Girl, how did you fit all this in your suitcase?” Like, she claiming to have a bag limit like the rest of us. Allan came with a trolley of dresses, all regal and beautiful and stunning. So Allan um was the person I bonded with the most on this season of Traitors. You’re about to be on The Traders. What’s the biggest thing you learned about yourself ending that show? I’m a very magnetic person and I thought you know just because on Drag Race and you know I do drag whatever but going on that show people just love Monae. People have fallen in love with Monae. I don’t know what it is about me. And um I learned that that is a very powerful tool in my tool belt. And I just learned how uh how such a magnetic and congenial lovely I am IRL with civilians cuz you know there were there were a lot of shorties on that show and the shorties are sometimes very dangerous. But um I really liked all of them and it was it was it was it was it was a fun time. Well all except one but if you could cast your dream trailer season using drag queens who would you pick? Okay, I’m picking Trinity the Tuck. I’m picking um Bianca the Rio. I’m picking Mistress Isabelle Bara. She would be a freaking mess in there. I’m picking James Monsoon. I’m picking um Kimchi Kahan Trees cuz she would be great eye candy. Um and she’s not the smartest. So, you need you need those kind of people in there. Um I I’m picking Pokemon so we can see what she looks like without a filter. Oh, I’m picking Manila Luzon because Manila is I think she needs a redemption after all stars for the way what Naomi Smalls did to her was so mean and unhinged and I think Manila needs to have another moment in this. We’ll do that on Traitors. I’m bringing in um Vanessa Vani Mateo cuz she is literally the Tasmanian devil of drag. That’s her. And then last but not least, I’m going to bring Raven. Raven is my all-time favorite drag queen. I love Raven. The way that she played her original season and all star was so good. I think she will be amazing in the house. Meme me on first. First first in the fan voting. I couldn’t believe it. Neither could we. Girl, Bob was on Traders and lost last season. If you That wasn’t I. Bob, I added I added that. They didn’t say that. I added it. If you had been playing in her season, what would you have done differently? I think the Housewives were a big block. I think befriending them rather than making enemies with them would have been the smarter play because the housewives are loyal. Okay, so you got to just you you got to recognize your audience and just play to that audience. I would have definitely been like Dolores was she’s a loyal Darinda is a loyal person. So I think that the play was to be friends with them. Oh my god, we only have a few more. Our time is almost done. No, be honest. Ooh. What’s the last thing Bob did that annoyed you? The list goes on. The last thing Bob did to annoy me. We had this thing this podcast where Bob is always making fun of the way that I pronounce words. Like, okay. Also, you make fun of me. You just said six years. It’s years. Years. You think it’s pronounced years? Years. You know, cuz I God forbid I have an accent. I have an accent. I from my family is from the Caribbean, St. Lucia. I lived there for a very long time. I have a sometimes my New York accent comes out. It’s just a thing. I I don’t hear it. In my mind, I say like I I I say bear and you’re probably wondering, is she talking about the animal or the drink? I don’t know what I’m saying cuz Bob has made he now I have a like a deep I have trauma about the way I pronounce the word, the word air. Like you’re thinking, is she talking about this or the thing we breathe? I don’t know. Now I am so conscious about how I say all these words. And when I do interviews or whatever, I am I’m like I I I whisper these words sometimes. So now he has created a psychosis for me and I am trapped in the mire in my brain of how to pronounce these words properly and I probably look crazy sometimes and you you can see the light leave my eyes sometimes when someone I say those words in interviews and I just I I I lose myself because Bob has given me a complex about it and now I need therapy. Let’s do a podcast Swiss on F Mary Kill with your dream guest. Oh no no why would you? This is a crazy question. Rihanna, Siza, Rupaul, who would you book? Who would you bail on? And who would you make a co-host for an episode? Jesus Christ. Okay, I’m going to book Rihanna. I’m going to co-host with Siza. Obviously, kicking it with Siza for an hour, I would freaking die. And I would have to bail on RuPaul. He I love him. I love him so much. But Rihanna and Siza Ruru baby, I got a girl got to do what she got to do. Okay, so sorry about that. Mother, which sibling rivalry episode or moment do friends bring up to you the most? Girl, it has to be the episode when we were recording it and Jacob was like, “There’s a video of Monae when she won Miss Gay Caribbean.” He brings up this video. You’ve just been crowned the Miss Gay Caribbean pageant. How does it feel? It feels so good. So good. Just as sweet as St. Lucia. And it’s a video of me This was like 2015. I had this girl. This is back when those crazy color contacts were. I had these like crazy ice blue like cartoon color lenses on. I just won this pageant and they were interviewing me. This woman and I said the iconic lines, it’s so good. So good. Just as sweet as St. Lucia. And that a lot of girls use them in their YouTube videos. People say to me in meet and greets all the time and because they can’t believe I had an accent. I’m like, “Yes, I have an accent. Leave me alone.” Who intimidated you the most going into The Traders? Intimidated because I’m such a fan and I love her. She’s so stunning and I love her even more after the show cuz now I like met her. She’s a real person. I’m obsessed with her. But I I was intimidated cuz I wanted to like I wanted her to think like I’m cool and I’m like bear. So it was Porsha Williams and she is just as fierce, fabulous, and as she is on on TV. Love her. obsessed with her. She’s so beautiful. The bodies are girl love Porsche Williams. Favorite person ever. And that’s it. That was the confession queue with Paige 6.
