Hana Mayeda (Hozier’s partner) releases statement in regards to likes attributed to her account

What is it about white men that possesses their stans to act so unhinged towards their partners? You’d think Hozier is the last celebrity in the world who’d inspire people to dig into his personal life and make shit up but I guess no one is safe.

I know people bring up problematic stuff but let me tell you, the people who are doing this don’t really care. It’s the same with timothee, harry styles, chris evans, benedict cumberbatch, adam driver and dozens of other male celebrities. They start dating and suddenly whoever they’re with is a problematic attention seeking narcissistic witch who’s manipulating them and making them miserable.

The pattern can’t be ignored and the people who bring these women’s behavior up because they’re “concerned” about whatever minority was a victim never actually go through with unstanning the man and stop giving him attention, they just bad mouth him while they’re with the woman and go back to liking him when they break up, so long as he stays single, then the cycle starts all over again with another woman (often times the ex gf who was previously being harassed even gains their sympathy because the new one is sooo much more problematic lol).

I honestly think we need to chill out on trying to use someone liking something on social media as a call out- could be fat thumbs, could be liking it to save it to look at again later, if it’s not a pattern it’s probably not endorsement. I know she’s saying it’s a fabrication here but if it wasn’t I don’t think someone’s twitter likes are a look into the depths of their soul.

I’d like to believe she’s telling the truth, because it sounds crazy that someone as vocal as Hozier would be with someone who’s as hateful as the people in those FB groups.

That being said, what kind of losers would take the time to photoshop those screenshots.

Hozier’s gf is also fame adjacent, you would expect this to happen to more popular stars. But maybe that’s because it would be less believable if they did it to someone bigger?

Honestly it was bizarre that the screenshots were posted here and believed fully without any evidence.

I didn’t know of her before the post yesterday but simply googling her and finding out she was an Asian woman dating a white man that is an internet boyfriend? Totally plausible for the pictures to be edited.

I have no skin in this in that I’m not really interested in Hozier beyond his activism.

I did raise an eyebrow at a younger person being active in an actual Facebook group. I don’t know anyone mid-millennial or younger active on Facebook right now.

And I don’t know anyone who truly holds right-winged views who would claim they support trans rights in a public statement. They’d deny it was them, but wouldn’t voice their support.

I believe her as it’s easy to photoshop these things and it sounds like Hozier has lots of unhinged fans (I saw him at my city’s folk fest a few years ago and he is very sexy but still!).

How did Hozier of all people attract the worst kind of parasocial boyband fan
