Channing Tatum reflects on his painful breakup from ex Jenna Dewan. The actor who’s starring in the new film Roofman sits down with Variety in a new interview published September 2nd. When asked about playing a character who misses his daughter, the Magic Mike star says, “I know for a fact I’m able to understand it.” Referencing his split from his ex-wife with whom he shares 12-year-old daughter, Everly. Channing shares, “Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young. We tried to keep it together. Tried for a year and a half, but we knew it was not to go into all that. It’s in the past, but it’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time. I wish I could just have her all the time.” Channing and Jenna met on the 2006 film Step Up. They married in 2009 when he was 29 and she was 28. They were together until 2018 and settled their divorce in September of 2024. Since the split, Channing was briefly engaged to Zoe Kravitz and has most recently been linked to Australian model Inca Williams. Jenna moved on with actor Steve Kazee. In addition to Jenna and Channing’s 12-year-old daughter, Everly, Jenna and Steve share 5-year-old son, Callum, and daughter, Rian, who they welcomed last year. [Music]
