Inside Prince William and Kate Middelton’s ‘New Chapter’ After Cancer With Forrest Lodge Move

I think the move to Forest Lodge does signal a new chapter. William and Katherine have only been in Adelaide Cottage for a few years. They moved just before the Queen died. And of course, since then, it’s been a really turbulent few years for them. So, there’s very much a sense of them wanting to start a new chapter in a lovely new home. And what’s so interesting about this move is that it’s it’s large. It’s much bigger than where they are at the moment. It’s got huge grounds. It’s got the potential for them to have their security detail there. And what we’re being told by sources at Kensington Palace is that this is their forever home. This is the long-term plan for them, which is surprising because of course they have a home here in London at Kensington Palace. They they don’t want to live in that goldfish bowl where they’re in a a public park where people can see them. Windsor is somewhere they love. It’s close to the children’s schools. Of course, it’s close to Kate’s parents as well. What we’re hearing is that we may have a king in William who doesn’t live in a castle, which is very interesting, which you know kind of displays what the the new age monarchy looks like right now. And also to that point, William is not king yet, but have they already started prepping George for, you know, the time when he becomes king? Well, they’ve they’ve kept a lot of the future and perhaps that future that would weigh heavily on George from him. He’s he’s a young boy. He’s going to school. He’s living a remarkably ordinary life for a royal. Of course, George is aware of his of his place in the line of succession, but it’s not something that they want to weigh him down with. They want for all three of their children to have as ordinary childhoods as they possibly can. And of course, Williams been acutely aware of that whole dichotomy of the air and the spare and all of the problems that that brings. He certainly doesn’t want to create that sort of a an issue, I suppose, between George and Charlotte. And I think that’s why when you see George so much of the time Charlotte’s right by his side. Yeah, that’s that’s really interesting. And then you know you got Louis there who just kind of does whatever the heck he he wants to do. That’s why we love him. They have been very Kate especially like really stridident on her kids living a normal life and not really having to um tow the line of what you know royals did in the past. Yeah. I I I think what William and Kate have achieved is is that sort of perfect balance between raising their children as ordinary as they possibly can as royal children, giving them normal upbringings where they see, you know, they see the king, of course, they’re very aware of their future and what the line of succession holds for each of them. But of course, they have this the the lovely soft cushion of the Middleton family, a a regular school, they go on playdates, they they live a really ordinary, lovely life. And I think part of the thinking in terms of making Windsor their long-term home is that they can continue that sense of of normality there because they are that much more protected and sheltered. How is Kate’s health right now? How is she doing? Well, they’re back on official engagements. The children are back to school. William and Kate are back at work. She’s just had a wonderful summer. We know they’ve had a incredible holiday in Greece. I mean, I think the fact that they were sailing around Kefalonia is a really good indication as to just how well she is. Um, her energy levels are high. She’s looking forward to getting back to work. And we’re all looking forward to seeing much more of her.

‘Vanity Fair’ royal correspondent Katie Nicholl sheds light on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s next chapter at Forrest Lodge, the Windsor estate they plan to make their ‘forever home’ after Kate’s battle with cancer. The move marks a shift for the royal family; the couple share three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
