All of the healthcare workers shown in a now viral TikTok slideshow mocking their patients’ bodily fluids have been fired from the Santa Barbara clinic: “Protecting the trust of those we serve is our highest priority, and when that trust is violated, we take swift action to address it.”

      GOOD.

unimageable stupidity to post this online and unimageable cruelty to make a post mocking people for their most vulnerable moments for millions to see

i hope every single one of them loses their license

It’s awful to think of people this juvenile/cruel taking care of us at our most vulnerable.

    3. There are people who straight up won’t get pelvic exams until or unless something is *unavoidably wrong* due to embarrassment. Not lack of access or financial issues, just embarrassment.

Every time shit like this goes up to social media, more people decide not to go get a yearly checkup. This trend needs to die yesterday.

It’s actually HORRIBLE that these are the type of people in healthcare now. No empathy. No INTEGRITY. Just money hungry soulless garbage. People at their most vulnerable and this is what they do. Honestly firing them isn’t even enough anymore DO SOME DUE DILIGENCE like what?

So crazy that they spent the care and time censoring their badges with stupid little emojis but didn’t process their whole photoshoot is extremely violative of their patients’ privacy and trust. This is soooo mean-spirited. People seeking medical care are experiencing enough stress without worrying about their bodily functions being mocked, let alone publicly! People don’t just leave fluids like that for no reason, probably had to endure exams in obviously uncomfortable places which leaves bodily fluids and lubricant afterward. This is truly enraging!

    6. What the fuck. I truly don’t understand how people think it is okay to post this shit. I work in healthcare, have for years, you NEVER, ever post shit about work that’s not incredibly general, and I can’t imagine how one of those patients would feel if they saw this. One of my old bosses posted all the time on TikTok, like all the MAs dancing and shit, and I thought that was a lot, but she never posted anything identifying about patients. Why on earth would you work in healthcare if you think shaming patients for bodily functions is okay?

    7. My god, this is a group of absolutely moronic assholes

      Good on the clinic!

If we weren’t dire for healthcare professionals, I would wish them a very difficult time finding another job. But alas there are shortages

Imagine being a HEALTHCARE worker and thinking mocking patients and their bodily functions is funny or appropriate AT ALL, let alone publicly. They are in the wrong field of work and I hope all of them find a different type of job. No patient deserves that type of “care”.

    9. Good that Sutter Health fired them all, that’s fuckin’ horrific that these healthcare workers would be posting that kind of shit.

    10. As someone who works in healthcare, this is just bizarre behavior to me. You just know they thought they were being cute, and that lack of awareness honestly scares me.

And this is just what we’ve seen publicly. Who knows what they’ve been doing behind the scenes, such as in private groups chats, etc. There should be a more profound investigation launched.

This is so disgusting. Imagine being one of those patients, leaving the office and going on Tik tok knowing this was about you. Who would even THINK to make a tik tok about that is so so weird.

At least 8 employees (I can’t tell who’s who in all the pics) and no one said, “this is a really bad idea” and put a stop to it. They were probably egging each other on like middle schoolers 😖

For just once I would like a company to drop the PR speak in situations like this. I know there’s always things to be said about culture, bigger issues, concentration of blame, etc etc etc. But I just think about how the genuine reactions from their colleagues probably ranged from “what the fuck???” to “why would anyone do that???” and I wish that shock and absurdity would sometimes be reflected in the public statements. Such a bizarre, pointless, and disturbing action feels odd to be met with PR jargon.

    15. The facility should have named everyone involved in their public message that all were fired. None should be allowed to work in the medical industry again.

I really hate how people lose integrity and morals just to go viral but I’m glad that the backlash towards it went even more viral.

I hope this was a wake up call for them

    17. Was the first pic taken with the intent to mock people? It looks like a standard group pic someone may have just taken. Would suck if some people randomly hopped into a group pic and then a callous person used it as part of a group of pics to mock patients.

    18. See I love my OB’s office but now the thought is in my head “what if *they* do stuff like this too.” That’s the kind of harm shit like this does.

IM SO GLAD THEY GOT FIRED. Ur a fucking idiot got posting that shit and the fact so many people “posed” with the chair instead of saying this is weirdo AND unprofessional as hell

    20. SuitedShoulderpad on

This is insane. How on earth did all these people agree that this was a good idea? These people earn their wage from helping, protecting, and supporting other human beings. How gross it is to make fun of vulnerable people who came to them to receive help and care.

    21. This is where I regularly take my kids to urgent care – needless to say I will not be going there ever again. Disgusting.

    22. lightbulbaficionado on

I’ve spent my life in hospitals. I’ve shit myself, puked on myself and staff, and I’m sure other gross bodily fluids have made their way outside of me. I was absolutely humiliated and the nurses and techs that were there were so kind and professional that if I found out they made fun of me behind my back I cannot guarantee I would survive the humiliation.

I hope every single person in these photos are blacklisted and get their licenses taken away. Absolutely vile and unnecessarily cruel.
