Dwayne Johnson Details Gaining 30 Pounds for The Smashing Machine | E! News
You look phenomenal. We love the look, Dwayne. Thank you. As soon as you doce, thank you. A little doce. Little doce. As soon as you walked out here, I said, “And the Oscar goes to How did How does it feel to know that this movie, your role, how deep you went, the intensity is getting you that type of buzz?” Um, it’s very surreal and it’s very humbling because, you know, you don’t I didn’t go into this process. I I just I wanted to do something for me and I wanted to do something that allowed my like to rip myself open and really dive deep and I had Benny Safy who was that director to say, “Yeah, you can do it. Not only can you do it, I got you.” And then of course Emily is one of my best friends. So the buzz that the movie is getting is very surreal and it’s awesome. It’s and the key I think is to um I think is to keep it all in stride. Just be cool with it and take each day one day at a time and be in the moment right and be here in Toronto and appreciate everything. Please welcome in his octagon debut Mark. [Music] Winning is the best feeling there is. It’s 40,000 people and they’re cheering you on. Cardio in the Here we go. Cardio in the morning. Then I would go eat breakfast and then I would go train and then I would go eat again and then I would go back for all the MMA training too as well. So I had to gain 30 lbs and that’s a lot of weight to carry. Not only did I gain 30 lbs for this role, then I had two weeks later I had to continue to shoot live action Moana. So I had to keep the weight on. It was crazy. That’s a lot. But you did it. I did it. And I had a lot of good people though around me who said, “Yeah, you can do it. We’ll help you do it.” So that’s the key. [Music]
