Ryan Seacrest’s Fate as ‘American Idol’ Host Revealed | E! News

Brian Serest returns. The longtime American Idol host will return as the host of the ninth season of the reality competition singing series on ABC, the show’s 24th season on the air overall. Ryan is joined by season 9 judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie. Those judges were announced back in August. However, Ryan was noticeably missing from the reveal, prompting speculation as to whether or not the host would return. He’s been pulling double duty as the host of both Wheel of Fortune and American Idol. Though the 50-year-old has been open about some personal struggles that have been impacting his family lately. His father, Gary Serest, has been battling prostate cancer. Serest said of his dad’s health in July on his radio show, “We have to go back into another treatment and fight this cancer. It’s difficult. The treatments suck. The treatments are tough, but I know he’s going to get through this.” American Idol will return on ABC and Hulu in 2026. [Music]
