Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, was sombre as she attended the Duchess of Kent’s funeral this afternoon, dressed in the same outfit she wore to the late Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral.
Katharine Worsley, who was married Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, died on 4 September, with her funeral service taking place at Westminster Cathedral on Tuesday, 16 September at 2 pm. It was the first Catholic funeral for a member of the Royal Family in modern history – a day of mourning, ceremony, and remembrance. The King and Members of the Royal Family joined The Duke of Kent and members of The Duchess’s family at the Requiem Mass for The Duchess of Kent. The Queen pulled out of the event shortly before it began as she is recovering from acute sinusitis.
The Princess opted to wear her black Catherine Walker coat dress with a distinctive bow neckline for the outing, which she first wore to the funeral of Prince Philip. She paired the look with simple accessories. She swept her hair into loose waves for the occasion, and could be seen speaking with Prince William as the couple arrived.
The royal mother-of-three was among the first to share a public tribute to the late royal upon the news of her death on Thursday 4th September. Kate Middleton and Prince William posted a short message to their Instagram page signed ‘W and C’. The Prince and Princess of Wales were quick to share a message about the royal, paying tribute to her ‘tireless work’ to help others and her ‘love of music.’ The couple wrote, ‘Our thoughts today are with The Duke of Kent and his family, particularly George, Helen and Nicholas.
