Took his sweet time. I don’t know why he was getting so pedantic about the word genocide when a 15 yr old with tik tok could tell it like it is.
I’m disappointed he didn’t speak up sooner tbh but any influential voice that speaks up for Palestine is very much needed
Two thoughts on this:
1. It’s absolutely shameful that it took this long.
2. However, this still makes him better than every other senator who hasn’t called it a genocide, which is all of them.

I rode so hard for him, I knew he wasn’t great on Israel but he was certainly more critical than almost any other US legislator- it was disappointing (and infuriating) to watch him embarrass himself post 10/7. Then you had AOC claiming Biden and Harris were working “tirelessly” for a ceasefire, which has zero basis in reality. I don’t know what’s worse – that she was naive enough to believe that, or cynical enough to say it regardless.
I was watching sky news last night and a reporter said this report calling it genoicde is antisemitic because of the holocaust and the term genocide is exclusive to Jewish people.
He said we can call it ethnic cleansing but not genocide. Same for Rawanda apparently
better now than never.
He is still by far the best politician we have in America.

I genuinely don’t understand what the big deal is with this. Yes, he hasn’t used the G word, but he has spoken out forcefully and strongly for the Palestinian plight.
Do people genuinely think this is a magic word that’s going to solve the crisis? No. He’s actually doing the work that needs to be done to sway public opinion. That’s more important than performative rhetoric.
Not suppose. It *IS* better late than never. This movement cannot be contingent on gotcha’s or gatekeeping – we gladly welcome people on the right side of history, because lives are on the line every minute.
