The Royal Family have welcomed US President Trump and First Lady Melania during their second state visit, and hosted a lavish state banquet last night (17 September) at Windsor Castle, in honour of their guests. There were 160 people in attendance overall at the event, with members of the Royal Family accompanying select guests into St George’s Ballroom, where the banquet took place.
The Princess of Wales was paired with American businessman Michael Boulos, who she was also sat beside at the dinner. President Trump was sat on her other side between her and The King, as guest of honour. Micheal is President Trump’s son-in-law, as he is married to his daughter, Tiffany Trump.

Micheal is also the son of the US Senior Advisor for Africa, Massad Boulos. The Boulos’ family founded SCOA Nigeria as well as Boulos Enterprises, a trading company for motor parts, making them a wealthy family outside of the Trump connection. Michael’s wife (and Trump’s daughter) Tiffany, joined her husband as a guest at the dinner, but entered the event with CEO of Apple, Tim Cook.

For the State Visit, the Royal Family wore full regalia, as is tradition at formal events of this kind, including tiaras. The Princess of Wales wore the Lover’s Knot tiara which was owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II, and was previously loaned to Princess Diana.
The state visit continues today (18 September) with a visit to Chequers for President Trump, and a trip to Frogmore Gardens for the First Lady, alongside The Princess of Wales.
