Ryan Gosling will star in “Star Wars: Starfighter,” directed by Shawn Levy, that takes place five years after the events of “The Rise of Skywalker.”

“Star Wars” fans are excited about a newly released photo of Ryan Gosling from the set of “Star Wars: Starfighter.”

Director Shawn Levy posted a photo of Gosling and co-star Flynn Gray to Instagram on Thursday, Sept. 18. The stoic photo shows the two actors aboard a vessel on the water with the caption, “Somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea. #Starfighter.” The photo’s location is tagged as Sardinia, Italy.

Fellow actors and fans alike took to social media to express their excitement about the new movie following the visual tease from Levy.

“I’m actually so excited this looks peak,” one Instagram user commented.

Several Instagram users responded to Levy’s post with a gif from “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith,” in which Anakin Skywalker says, “This is where the fun begins,” with a beaming smile.

Others made reference to Gosling’s role as Ken in the 2023 hit movie, “Barbie.”
