Meghan Markle had a thriving career as an actress before she married Prince Harry and became the Duchess of Sussex, and it all started with Deal or No Deal.
It’s true that the 44-year-old Netflix star was a signature briefcase model on the game show in 2006 before her starring role on the television show Suits.
Fellow briefcase model Chrissy Teigen previously opened up about their brief stint on the show together, saying, “Everyone asks me what she was like and I say, ‘Sorry, no dirt. She’s gorgeous.'” During Meghan’s appearance on the Archetypes podcast in 2022, she discussed the stereotypes and expectations surrounding the role.

“There was a very cookie-cutter idea of precisely what we should look like. It was solely about beauty — and not necessarily about brains,” Meghan said at the time. “When I look back at that time, I’ll never forget this one detail — because moments before we’d get on stage, there was a woman who ran the show and she’d be there backstage, and I can still hear her. She couldn’t properly pronounce my last name at the time and I knew who she was talking to because she’d go, ‘Markle, suck it in! Markle, suck it in!'”

Chrissy, who also used to model for Sports Illustrated, spent some time as a briefcase model from 2005 to 2009 on Deal or No Deal.
After a long career in modeling, marrying music star John Legend and having kids with him, and becoming an author, Chrissy addressed her past on the game show on social media.
“This feels like an alternate universe,” adding in the comments, “I never understood when I was supposed to make the sad face. I think that’s why I was gently replaced,” Chrissy captioned an old photo in 2020.
Actress Hayley Norman, who’s appeared in shows such as New Girl, Alone Together, and The Upshaws, happened to stand right next to Meghan before she married a royal as briefcase #25. Meghan was briefcase #24.

In 2018, Hayley took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of her and Meghan on set as briefcase models.
“With the Royal Wedding just a few days away, I feel like it’s time to finally address the rumors. As many of you have asked and the press was unrelenting about trying to contact me in regards to (seriously), YES I was friends with Meghan Markle and yes, she is as every bit as lovely as you’d imagine,” she wrote. “BUT, while I may be sitting home and watching the big day in pajamas with a plastic tiara from the 99 cent store, don’t forget who this wedding is really about- ME! I’m officially royal-adjacent, hennies…and that means I’ve changed.”
Hayley continued: “My first matter of business? Bling baby! Sure, unlike Meghan, I can’t borrow jewels from the Queen (yet), but I do have a friend that works at a jewelry store called Kween in Little Armenia and she already said she’d let me borrow whatever I want. Now that I’m royal by proxy, I can’t be looking like a basic b- -h.
Second, I promise to take pictures with underprivileged white children wherever I go. I’ll clothe them with t-shirts branded with pictures of my face so they never forget that someone one degree removed from the palace cares about them. What a whirlwind Hollywood fairy tale this has been… for me! In all seriousness tho, congrats to Meghan and Prince Harry, I’m so happy for them! Xo, Princess-ish Hayley Ps- bow down b- -hes!
