Good day. I’m Robert Owen. Good day. I’m Whitney Carson and this is Mirrorball Confessions. Good day, by the way. Thank you. Yes. Yes, it was. Okay. You’re welcome. First impressions. Do tell. Do tell. I’ve already told you. Oh my gosh. I was genuinely surprised. Genuinely so excited. I didn’t think that they would pair you with me. And like we don’t really know until we get in there. And I think people were shocked at our partnership anyway, but I was definitely shocked. I was like, “Oh my gosh.” I just felt super excited, super grateful. I knew you when you were like 10 years old. So like it felt very full circle for me as well. Like I know it was for you too, but for me as well, I was just like over the moon, excited. Oh my gosh, that that was that was literally exactly how I felt. I wanted your your khakis immediately. Okay, I just let’s put a pin in that because that is still I’ve got that in the works. I’ve got that in the works. Whitney, we’re she’s got her own khaki uniform on the way. Watch this space. But no, same. I just felt absolutely stoked. The the the most ultimate full circle moment and I just felt so incredibly grateful. What an absolute privilege to to get to do this experience, but to get to do it with the best of the best and and someone who is genuinely such an incredibly kind human being. Very very lucky. Who’s You’re pretty funny. You’re really We’re funny in different ways. You’re really funny. Ty. Ty. Agreed. I feel like we know when to like, you know, really nail it down and get to work, but when we’re not doing that, like it it’s pretty loose. It’s pretty all over the shop. We have some fun. Dancing with the Stars bestie. Well, we’re obviously besties. Yeah, I think. But like, put us aside in the cast. In the in the cast. Well, all I mean, they’re all besties. We Yeah, we love them all. I mean, the pros I’ve known for forever, so those are my besties. But I think Dylan’s a bloke. He’s an absolute top bloke. I I Yeah, he’s he’s awesome. His first dance was great. I know. It was just pure fun. Like, man, it was fun. We were shouting our guts out. We were like, “Yeah, it was awesome.” That was good. Everyone’s great, though. Amazing cars. [Applause] Well, we wanted to bring a little slice of the Aussie outback into the ballroom and we wanted to to pay tribute to to my uh upbringing and and my childhood which was growing up in the bush. And you know, I get to continue a legacy that my dad created and I’m very honored to do that. And the first night was about what’s your anthem? like let’s bring you and everything you’re about into the ballroom. And I think we we did that. And that was that was your vision really was was jumping off that car and going the slide and just sort of going all out and also the transition between the car key uniform. Yeah. To a to a couple of rhinestones, you know. I Yeah, I think we we kind of came up with that together, but we definitely wanted to bring like his Australian like who he is and then kind of like transport him into the ballroom. So, we nailed it. We actually thought it would be good if we did like a mini tutorial on our back bend situation because it’s actually really easy to do. You just need the right steps and the right technique to it because don’t you feel like people could do that? People could totally do that. Just warm up first, but you can totally do it. You can totally do it. I mean, it’s nothing with your back really. It’s all about like equilibrium and leaning back like the same way. So, we’ll teach you. Oh my gosh. I it was it was really sweet. I remember kind of looking at Bindy before before we went and and and did the dance right right as the music was starting and and you know it was it was really special having her and having my whole family in the audience. But Grace’s reaction was my favorite. She was a little distracted by the confetti. Like I came up to her and I was like, “Wasn’t that fun?” And she’s like, “Yeah, but there’s confetti.” Yeah. Good job. But but but she was stoked. It was She is such a dancer. She loves dancing so much. So, um, that’s so cute. I’ve said it before, but season 50 of this show, I reckon she’s she’s in there. Oh, Bindy’s been amazing. The whole fam have been incredible and and and your fam as well. We’ve gotten the thers and the Carson Mallisters all together and we’re all we’re all all besties and it’s really really great. Grace loves your boys. Oh my gosh, they get along so well. Buds. I know. I love the best part of it is that you can have support through this like incredible journey and they all can be behind you. It’s really cool. Yeah, it’s awesome. [Music]

Robert Irwin and Witney Carson’s first dance on “Dancing with the Stars” took everyone to the Outback! The dancing partners revealed their first impressions of one another during Access Hollywood’s first episode of mirrorball confessions. They also explained why it was important to pay homage to Australia and Steve Irwin in their first dance. Plus, Robert reveals why sister Bindi Irwin’s daughter Grace Warrior might be a contestant on the dance competition show in the future and explains how his family has supported him on this new journey. “Dancing with the Stars” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
