I very much agree with, ‘a new breath being exhaled into what a showgirl is,’ since it is of the moment in a way it wasn’t a year or decade ago. But to act like Showgirls haven’t had a cultural presence for over 200 years is *wild.* Like Jojo Siwa inventing gay pop wild.

Especially since the role is largely unchanged from what it was a century ago, including the struggles the women involved face when it comes to pressures regarding aging/appearance and judgment from society.

    2. >When I did this shoot for *CR*, it was before the idea of a showgirl became cultural in the way it is now. There’s a real conversation happening—and a new breath being exhaled—into what a showgirl is. Real kind of showgirlship is more than bedazzled bras, feathers, and makeup

I appreciate what Miley is saying – especially given that it’s in conversation with Pamela Anderson and I think *The Last Showgirl* did a great job with showing the realities of being an actual performing showgirl (rather than the glorified cosplay version that other media has been putting out) – but while the photos are gorgeous, they don’t really align with her comments because all I’m seeing are bedazzled bras, feathers, pearls and makeup.

    3. I read this as in before TS

Why do I feel there will be a lot of show girl costumes at parties this Hallow’s Eve .

    4. I really like her poses, they feel alive and energetic, which I feel like has been missing for a minute in a lot of spreads.

I don’t think certain pop-star going from one trendy aesthetic to another is going to understand that.
