Well, Robert Irwin stole America’s hearts Tuesday night during the new season of Dancing with the Stars. He stopped by E with his dancing partner, Whitney Carson, to tell us all about the big night and reflected back on his late father, Steve Irwin. That wasn’t good. It was great. Probably the best first dance I have ever seen on this show. That was incredible. How are we feeling day after? Feeling good. Feeling tired. The adrenaline is still coursing through me at this point. You haven’t had like the let down. I’m just starting to come down off of it and I’m like, I need a nap. That’s an eight. Seven. All right, that is a 15 out of 20 for Robert and Do you feel pressure being at the top of the leaderboard going into week two? I feel pressure, but I say this all the time. I didn’t coin the phrase, but pressure is a privilege. You in your BTS package yesterday, seeing footage of you and your dad when you were a young boy. Uh it’s really quite moving. What do you think he would look at, you know, the man that you’ve turned into and say? A lot of people often ask me, it must be tough. You know, every day you’re reminded of your dad. That must be hard. And I say, really, it’s not. It’s actually one of the greatest joys in my life. If I can keep his sense of passion and enthusiasm and his work as an environmental advocate, if I can keep that alive and thriving into a new generation, I’ve done my job. And I never expected in a million years that I’d be able to do that through dance. I don’t know what dad would say if he were here, but I think he’d be pretty stoked. Was he a good dancer? Is your mom a dancer? Like I was just going to ask cuz we’re on the topic of like passing things down. Has ever said like that Steve could dance? Mom said he had like the furthest thing from any semblance of rhythm. No way. That was unbelievable. You very quickly achieved like a heartthrob status. Oh god. Was it before the underwear ad or after? I don’t know. I’m not sure what it was. I’m going over it. Yeah. It’s very flattering. But I will say that you like the attention post. You look terrible. But I will say keep going. No, I’m kidding. I’m joking. My DMs are literally exploding. It’s all gone to my head and I’ve become an absolute diva. [Music]
