Rising star on the Riyadh comedy scene Bill Burr on his podcast March 18, 2013: “I don’t give a shit if I have to do stand-up gigs in one of those apartheid countries in front of a dictator like Beyoncé did shaking her perfectly round ass. I’m gonna get some of that blood money.”

I just love that he thought it was suuuuuch an outlandish idea

That he, a patron saint of integrity because “it’s not hard to do the right thing,” would *debase* himself like Beyoncé by jiggling his ass for dictators

Guess everyone has a price. Even Ol’ Billy Blood Money

    2. Can’t believe people were using this to justify him doing the gig forgetting that his situation is different than it was in 2013 and it’s still wrong to take Saudi blood money

Did I miss something? He is a comedian and said a potentially stupid thing 12 years ago. Is that a reason to blame someone?

Why people think that this is an attempt to cancel him. This is just something that he said once. What’s really happening is that he just accepted blood money to perform in Saudi Arabia that’s why people are disappointed in him and don’t feel like supporting him any more rightfully so. That’s all

Idk, this seems dumb. I get not liking him performing at the show in Saudia Arabia. I disapprove too, but he’s a comedian who has historically been on the right side of things, advocating for things I agree with. I’m not inclined to say he’s trash/has always been trash because he’s making a decision I don’t agree with. Digging up old gotcha quotes is weird.
