The organisation behind the Eurovision Song Contest has confirmed it will hold a vote on whether or not Israel should be allowed to participate next year.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) confirmed it will invite 68 member countries to give their view at a general assembly meeting in early November.
A decision will be taken by a simple majority, meaning that if more than 50% of members vote to exclude Israel, the country would not take part in 2026.
Israel's continued participation in Eurovision has been controversial due to the ongoing war in Gaza, and several countries had already called for their exclusion.
The EBU confirmed all 68 member countries would be invited to vote, including broadcasters who don't take part in Eurovision such as Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Jordan and Lebanon.
In recent weeks, countries including Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Iceland and Spain have all said they would consider dropping out of Eurovision if Israel's involvement continued.

> However, Israel’s public broadcaster Kan said it should be allowed to take part, adding it was “one of the contest’s longstanding, popular and successful participants”.
> “The potential disqualification of Israel’s public broadcaster Kan would be especially troubling ahead of the 70th edition of the song contest, which was founded as a symbol of unity, solidarity and fellowship,” a spokesman for the network said.
In a letter sent to EBU members on Thursday as reported by The Guardian, president Delphine Ernotte Cunci wrote that there is an “unprecedented diversity of views” on if Israel should be allowed to participate and the issue would therefore require “a broader democratic basis.”
In a statement, KAN said that it hopes “the Eurovision Song Contest will continue to uphold its cultural and non-political identity.” The statement continued that KAN’s disqualification “would be especially troubling ahead of the 70th edition of the song contest, which was founded as a symbol of unity, solidarity and fellowship. Any such move could have wide-ranging implications for the competition and the values for which the EBU stands.”
As a result of the disagreement over Israel’s participation, the deadline for final confirmation of participation has already been moved to December.
Zionists want to be different and unique so bad that they’re actively committing genocide and war to establish themselves as a ‘native white’ folk in the middle east. They’re all hammering on about how Palestine and the Levant is their birth land and was promised to them at the expense of millions of innocent lives, but then they also always wanna crawl back to White European privilege. So which one is it??

If they kicked out Russia for their actions seems only fair to boot Israel too.. its honestly long overdue.
Even without their war crimes, Israel has behaved like a bully in Eurovision for years and their massive advertisement campaign this year should have been against the rules already. But I have no faith in EBU doing anything right anymore
It would be nice to finally see some news that doesn’t make me wish to retroactively blink out of existence.
I think it is going to be a tight vote and they might not have the majority. Some countries will for sure abstain, some will likely be lobbied by Israel to vote in favor. There’s hope if the countries from North Africa all appear and vote, but still there’s the need of a lot of european channels to vote.
I hope the votes are made public so the broadcasters who support genocide can’t hide behind anonymity. Aside from the obvious reason to expell them, I really want someone to make a compilation of KAN insulting other countries and their contestants. Welcome to the fuck around find out contest
