Honestly, to me this sounds like a false equivalency, the Saudi Prince is the one paying out of pocket for this show, if these comedians did a show at the white house people would be pissed too.
He also posted this screenshot of what im guessing is the email he sent his manager to decline the offer, but his tone in that email and his tone in the video are completly different

It’s stupid to decline on some faux moral ground if you’re going to turn around and perform at some Kennedy Center-esque gig. America has been whitewashing its reputation for decades using the same soft power/cultural methods that KSA is trying to use now. I don’t remember a lot of “moral” outrage when comedians would perform for Obama while captain drone strike was killing Yemenis by the wedding. If you can’t hold yourself to a consistent moral line, then don’t pretend to. Enough of the orientalism. KSA is ass, the US is orders of magnitude worse.
Can we stop comparing the US to Saudi Arabia? Obviously the US is in the early stages of fascism but we’ve got several more chapters to go before we enter Saudi Arabia territory. Equivocating the two to defend your shitty choices does nothing for no one.
this doesn’t feel genuine at all. he’s definitely pissed he had to cancel, moreso because it clashes with the personal brand he’s tried to cultivate than with actual concern for where the money came from.
