You want your dad to show up. Madison Brush is opening up about her troubled relationship with her dad, Cody Brown. Nearly a year after the Sisterwide star and daughter to mom Janelle Brown shared she was no longer speaking to the family’s patriarch, she broke down over their relationship during the show’s season 20 premiere. You want your dad to show up and you want reconciliation. And I know that I played a part, but I’m angry. And I’m angry because I’m still trying out to learn to not be disappointed. Last November, two years after Janelle and Cody, who’s currently married to Robin Brown and was also previously married to Mary Brown and Christine Brown, separated in 2022, Madison had confirmed she had cut off her dad due to his lack of boundaries in their fractured family. I’m still learning how to just see him for who he is. And I feel like Leon’s already come to peace with this. And it’s really hard because I don’t feel like I have. I’m trying to understand that maybe he didn’t know how to show up and he might be hurting. For his part, Cody, who’s also dad to 13 other children between Robin and his three exes, admitted in the episode he would really love to have a better relationship with the children of his ex-wives. Literally just compartmentalized the heartbreak. I don’t know what to do. I would love healing with every single person I know. I would love healing with Mary. I would love healing with Janelle. I would love healing with Christine and of course all of my children. But I think we’re in an impass here because this healing can only happen on their terms only. Kody, this is one area where it can not be on your term. Your kids are hurting, and instead of you throwing away your ego and meeting your children where they're at emotionally. It has to be about you, and that's where the problem lies.
My dad never showed up for me so I understand the feeling.
When someone is a victim, they get to set the terms for reconciliation.
Sweetie, give yourself grace. Your father is the adult in this situation.
I am so proud that you are working on this so you can heal. Sometimes, we have to grieve relationships that are not good for you and your own family.
This is the unfortunate consequence of an archaic form of matrimony. It does not work! Somebody always suffers in the pandemonium of these types of relationships. I no longer watch "Sister Wives".
