"Disney saw more than 1.7 million total paid streaming cancelations during the period 9/17-9/23, a Disney source confirms to me. The total includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN,” Kabas wrote on Bluesky Monday.

Kabas reports that 1.7 million was 436% above a subscriber loss that’s typical for the same period, though Disney didn’t immediately respond to Gizmodo’s questions about the report. Kabas broke a story last week in The Handbasket about a planned price increase for Disney+. Disney announced Kimmel was coming back shortly before the price increase was officially announced.

I canceled and won’t be re-subscribing thanks to a $3 price increase. Not worth it anymore, especially since they’ve shown they’ll cave to fascists.

    2. Even though Jimmy Kimmel has his job back, it’s not too late to unsubscribe! And stop buying Disney shit in general. Piracy is easy and morally justified.

    3. The last thing I watched on Disney+ was the new Lilo and stitch and it was awful! They couldn’t pay me to come back.

    4. Side note: HUGE shout out to Marisa Kabas. Her journalism (check out The Handbasket) is world-class and she rarely gets credit for scooping stories like this. Props to Gizmodo for giving her her due.
