Madonna Makes Rare Comment on Guy Ritchie Custody Battle | E! Mews

I was like, I can’t take this pain anymore. Madonna reveals she was in a very dark place amid her custody battle with ex Sky Guy Richie over their son Rocco. The Queen of Pop gets shockingly candid during a chat with J. Shetty for his OnPurpose podcast, discussing the heartbreaking period during her Rebel Heart Tour, which ran between 2015 and 2016. Amid the shows, Madonna’s son, Rocco, whom she shared with ex-husband director Guy Richie, decided to relocate to the UK to live with his father. The music icon says the decision and custody battle led her to consider drastic measures. I would say probably one of the most painful moments in my life where I could I honestly couldn’t see the forest through the tree for the trees was when um I went through a custody battle with my son and um I you know even though my marriage didn’t work out I mean a lot of people’s marriages don’t work out. They marry the wrong people. They’re not aligned. they’re not meant for each other. Um, someone taking trying to take my child away from me was like, um, they might as well just kill me. That’s really how I was thinking. And I was on tour at the time, so I had to go on stage every night. I would just be lying on the floor of my dressing room sobbing. I really thought it was like it was the end of the world. I couldn’t take it. I just couldn’t take it. Madonna and Guy were married from 2000 to 2008 and Rockco was in his teens during the custody battle. However, the singer reassures listeners that she is in a great place now and credits her journey through the darkness to her strong spirituality. I don’t feel that way anymore. And I had to keep you know studying like continuing my studies and continuing on my spiritual path like helped me to understand that you know the enemy is within and also I was abandoned as a child by my own mother and so losing a child like it was like life repeating itself. I couldn’t accept it and so it caused me a lot of suffering and not being able to accept things causes all of us a lot of suffering. So yes and now you know I’m happy to say that I’m really good friends with my son. [Music]

Madonna reflected on the 2016 custody battle with ex Guy Ritchie over their son Rocco, now 25, and deemed it the most “painful” experience of her life. The seven-time Grammy winner is also mom to Lourdes Leon, 28, with Carlos Leon, and adopted children David, 20, Mercy, 19, and twins Stella and Estere, 13. 1. I’m glad she’s in a good place with her son now🥰 I’m not sure what prompt the custody battle between her and Guy but considering Rocky was in his teens and she and Guy were divorced, it could been as simple he wanted as and he need to be and spend more time with his father and they needed custody arrangements for this. Young men need their fathers in their lives as well 😊nothing against Madonna 😊

    2. Madonna is VERY WRONG, when she says My Son. Was the son conceived by the miracle of God insemination without a male participant? Rocco is just as Guy's son. She is so lopsided. She wants to get her way and only hers in this world. Guy the father has as much right as her. The fame, the $$ and accolades got into her head.

    3. Everyone here criticising Madonna in defence of guy but for me the biggest takeaway which all you boy parents are ignoring is actually the little nugget she gave about her mother daughter relationship. I am shocked 😲 that she describes herself as being abandoned by her mother as a girl 👧 😳 because her mum died. She is making it seem like that lady left the family by choice 😐 why isn't your outrage directed at that? Yeah yeah i get it sons need dads. She's rocco's mum which is huge because gave him life so she has a right to fight for custody. If she didn't y'all be accusing her of abandoning him 😒 i feel like women can never win and there's even internalised misogyny 😢

    4. I watched a interview she did live for Ithink nbc or cbs. The way she talked about kids was just horrible. Complaining that they want more time with her. The whole interview was her talking about herself like she is the greatest singer/ dancer. Pure ego. I felt so sorry for the kids. From that interview I though what a horrible mother she must be. That really suck with me .

    5. It's okay yo allow the other parent that opportunity to parent. And he was a young he needed that father figure. I get what she is saying about her mom as well she had her own issues.

    6. How were you abandoned by your mother when your mother died of breast cancer 🎀 when you were five years old? And then, maybe you did feel abandoned as a little girl. That's understandable. But as a grown woman, can't you say that my mother died of breast cancer when you were five. My mother died of breast cancer when I was young. I could never say she abandoned me. She loved me. Maybe there's a difference in the word "abandon" for different people. Just my opinion.

    7. I’m glad she didn’t decide to tell this whole story and her fake British accent cause that was the worst fake British accent and I’ve ever heard.
