Florence Welch Shares She Nearly Died After Ectopic Pregnancy | E! News

Florence Welch detailing a scary health battle, one that left the Florence and Machine frontwoman fighting for her life. The singer shared for the first time inside the Guardian September 27th interview what led to her cancelling a slew of shows in 2023 with Florence telling fans at the time she endured an undisclosed medical emergency. Florence now revealing the emergency was an ectopic pregnancy when an egg fertilizes outside the uterus causing a life-threatening amount of blood loss if not treated. Quote, “The closest I came to making life was the closest I came to death.” She actually wound up performing for fans at the onset of symptoms before the diagnosis. I took some ibuprofen and stepped out on stage. Florence then cancelling her tour dates undergoing emergency surgery. She later learned, quote, I had a Coke can’s worth of blood in my abdomen. If I’d got on that plane, I’d have come off on a stretcher or worse. Florence put the experience into her new album titled Everybody Scream. Working again helped me. It was just like little lanterns in a fog. I could just pick my way through. [Music]
