Tim Curry Makes Rare Outing at Rocky Horror Picture Show’s Anniversary Celebration | E! News

Tim Curry makes a rare appearance in honor of the Rocky Horror Picture Show’s 50th anniversary. The 79year-old appears at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles at a reunion celebrating the cult classic. The actor who gave an introduction to a screening of the 1975 musical was given a standing ovation by the crowd. Curry joking to fans, “I’m so excited by this and very honored by the Academy to do this presentation of our movie which has dragged on for 50 years.” The star also dropping some fun behind-the-scenes tidbits about the production, sharing he originally did his own makeup for a stage production of the film, though a professional was brought in for the screen version, which Curry thought made him look just too polished. He also said he toyed with using a German accent for Dr. Frankenferter, but he ended up finding inspiration for the character’s British accent while eavesdropping on a conversation between two women on a London bus. He says they wanted to sound like the queen, and that seemed appropriate for Frank really, who clearly thought he was the queen. Curry, who has been in a wheelchair since a 2012 stroke, also opened up about his health struggles, telling fans, “I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting. So, I won’t be singing, and I won’t be dancing very soon. I still have real problems with my left leg. [Music]
