Eric Dane Vows To Fight ALS ‘To The Last Breath’ In Rare Video

You know, I want to be there for all that. So, I’m going to fight, you know, to the last breath on this one. Eric Dayne is ready to fight for his life amid a debilitating battle with ALS. On September 29th, US Congressional Representative Eric Swallwell of California posted a Tik Tok video of a meeting he had with the actor in Washington DC. Dne was joined by representatives from the I am ALS organization which is an advocacy group for people living with amiotrophic lateral sclerosis. While sharing their reasoning for why the incurable disease needs more federal funding for research, the Euphoria actor spoke to his own dedication to fighting the progression of ALS and living to see all the big moments in his daughter’s lives. I want to ring every bell. Good. I have two daughters at home. I want to see them. Yeah. You know, graduate college and get married, maybe have grandkids. You know, I want to be there for all that. So, I’m going to fight, you know, to the last breath on this one. We’re all in it with you. That’s for sure. Thank you. Yeah. Let’s do it, man. Let’s do it. Nice. Yeah. What else can I do? Refill that espresso, maybe. I’m a little tired, man. Deal. The Mayo Clinic describes ALS as quote, “A nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It is also known as Lug Garrick’s disease after a baseball player who passed away in 1941, only 2 years after learning he had the disease. The Grey’s Anatomy actor also gave some insight into why some people aren’t diagnosed with ALS until their treatment options are limited. ALS is the last thing they want to diagnose anybody with. So often takes all this time for these people to be diagnosed. Well, then it precludes them from being a part of these clinical trials. That’s why ACT for ALS is so is so great is because it broadens the access for for everybody. Dne revealed his ALS diagnosis in April. In an interview with ABC News’s Diane Sawyer, the 52-year-old demonstrated how the disease is impacting his motor skills, starting with losing function of his right arm. I have one functioning arm. My dominant side is your right side. Yeah, my left side is functioning. My right side is completely completely stopped uh working. And then your left arm is fine. No, it’s going. Yeah, I feel like maybe a couple few more months and I won’t have my left hand either. It’s sobering. [Music]
