George Clooney admits he feels like the ‘village idiot’ around brainy wife Amal

Did this movie make you reflective at all about your life and choices and not so much? I mean, I think it would be the case if I had uh I think probably if I was younger when I got famous. I think it would have been I would have made dumber choices. I know I would have. Um but when you’re 33 when things hit, you kind of failed already in all the big ways. So, I wasn’t in the position I I could look at this character from a way and not feel like, “Oh my god, do I have these similarities? Do I have these regrets that I miss parts of my life or parts of my family or friends?” Are you glad that you’re you didn’t become famous till 33? Yes. You know, you’re definitely chasing things when you’re young. Yeah. But it’s a little like a bug light. You chase it like crazy. Then you get there, you get zapped, right? So, I could see how it would have been very bad for me at a younger age. So, I’m very happy to have a lady. And um do you your wife is so smart. Do you ever feel like the village idiot talking to her? I feel like the village idiot all the time.

George Clooney knows his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, is the brains of their relationship.

“I feel like the village idiot all the time around her!” the actor, 64, joked to Page Six at the premiere of his film “Jay Kelly” at the New York Film Festival at Film at Lincoln Center on Monday night, which he attended with Amal.

Amal’s impressive legal credentials include representing Julian Assange and former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed and working on the UN’s inquiry into armed drones.
