MrBeast Addresses Backlash for Trapping Man in Burning Home for Money | E! News

Would you risk Birdie Life for half a million dollars? Yes, let’s do it. Okay, good luck, man. You’re braver than me. This is going to be crazy. Mr. Beast is addressing fans after a recent viral stunt prompted backlash. The YouTuber known for his elaborate challenges is addressing safety concerns after uploading a video on September 27th titled, “Would you risk dying for $500,000?” The video features a contestant going through a series of quote death traps for a cash prize. The challenges include getting shot out of a cannon into fire, deathdeying gravity rings of fire, and surviving massive fiery explosions. At one point in the video, the man, who Mr. Beast says is a professional stunt man, escapes a burning building while trying to carry bags of cash to safety. On fire. Oh my god, the money is burning. You did it. It’s lights on fire. Put it out. My adrenaline is pumping right now. You managed to get $250,000 out of that building. Let’s head to the next trip. The video, which currently has 48 million views on YouTube, prompted some backlash online. One user writing on X, “As a firefighter, I can feel the heat just looking at this video.” Mr. Beast, that was the dumbest idea you and your crew ever had. Another says, I don’t care if the fire is controlled or how many safety crew members he has ready. This is just dangerous and seems psychopathic. Following the comments, Mr. Beast, also known as James Donaldson, posts this response, writing in a pinned YouTube comment. In case there’s any concern about the safety of the stuntman contestant, I just wanted to mention that we take safety extremely seriously. Every challenge was tested by multiple stuntmen. We have a full rescue team on standby with firefighters, EMTs, and divers equipped with an ambulance and fire truck. He further clarifies in a post on X, “This blew up. If you’re curious, obviously we had ventilation for the smoke and a kill switch to cut off the fires. We had professionals test this extensively.” He adds, “I take safety more serious than you could ever imagine. [Music]

    1. The guy didn’t have a gun to his head… I’m not trying to back up jimmy but it’s common sense… the contestant agreed upon doing it… 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

    2. I think Mr.Beast has been watching too much Squid Games. I don’t want to watch a video where someone risks their lives for money.

    3. It was pretty reckless. It doesn’t matter how many safeguards he has in place. Also, trained stunt man? So, basically it was a staged stunt for views.

    4. Everyone that is complaining about this or thinks this is a problem is pathetic. The contestant essentially volunteered, hes a stuntman, he got paid, its a game, and you all are softer than raw cookie dough. Smfh.

    5. A lot of people that only know his name from the past, prob still see him as a kid making vids in his backyard.. Forgetting he's basically the biggest production on Youtube. There's been 'real' fires in movies & TV shows too, what's the difference..
