Fine. We’re associated. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Look, I don’t follow a ton of celebrity news. You all know that. But Perez is a household name to a lot of us. And this year, that name grew beyond the news. Mired in the dispute between celebrities and merely reporting the news, Perez was subpoenaed to turn over the names of confidential journalistic sources. Instead of folding, Perez fought back. Spent months alone fighting to ensure the protection of journalists everywhere. When we connected, we took on his representation because nobody, neither the government nor a private party nor our judicial branch should ever allow for confidential sources to be turned over. Period. We’re grateful to represent you, but today I’m more grateful to recognize you, my friend. So, this stage is yours. Thank you, Atar. Gosh, um I don’t usually get nervous speaking, but I I have severe imposttor syndrome right now. Plus, also I was glued to all the Diddy updates as everybody else was talking. We don’t have the sentencing yet. Um but yes, today is October 3rd and it’s also Taylor Swift album release day. and I was um driving over here and and listening to Taylor’s new album, which I loved, but on there she has a a diss track about Charlie XCX. And I thought to myself, I love Taylor Swift. She’s the biggest musician on the planet. And literally just over 12 months ago, the this guy that’s now in the White House publicly attacked her and said, “I hate Taylor Swift.” And I would think, well, if I’m a musician, I would write a song about that. But she didn’t cuz even Taylor Swift is afraid. So these are really scary times. And I was afraid and I was above my pay grade even though I was pretending to be in my Lwoods era showing up in court wearing my florals. But you know, thanks to Check GPT uh I I handled everything by myself for two months. And then this uh lawyer in town whom I need to recognize also. She works pro bono with children here. Her name is Don Tolman. She put me in contact with the ACLU of Nevada. They said they would represent me fighting this subpoena because, you know, I went to school for acting. I didn’t go to school for for law, even though my mom wanted me to. And I just knew, you know, this is not appropriate. Now I know everything. Rule 45 C, the Nevada shield law, federal reporters privilege. I’m like Kim Kardashian studying after a few years. Um, but literally the day that the ACLU of Nevada agreed to represent me, they called Blake Lively’s lawyers, that same phone call, they said, “Okay, we’re going to withdraw the subpoena because they knew what it meant that they were representing me.” So, I know if it weren’t for Itar and Chris and everybody else that I would still be It was really hard. I was I was like I was crowds in mess. Uh I would still be fighting it. So, thank you so much and uh this is Wow. I I will cherish this and uh donate. So, thank you so much.
