Hill House is the one I rewatch annually. I enjoy all of Mike Flanagan’s work, but something about Hill House always makes me pick this one over the others.

Over the Garden Wall is a delightful show that will fill you with autumnal spirit

Especially with Reece on TM right now, you can never go wrong with *Inside No. 9.*

Typically humorous, often quite dark and creepy, I recommend it to all the horror fans I know! (My favorites are “Mother’s Ruin,” “La Couchette,” and “How Do You Plead?”.)

    3. My mom and I used to watch Stephen King’s Rose Red every fall together, it’s harder to find nowadays but it’s worth a watch

I watch The Strangers movie religiously every year and it still scares me and leaves me riddled with anxiety

Also usually do a rewatch of my favourite Buffy episodes

Can I just say FUCK the episode of Hill House with the Bent Neck lady. Just fuck that all the way out.

I always rewatch AHS: Hotel every October. It’s my favorite season, lady gaga serves you know what, the lead male actor is so good, and why am I still shocked everytime when I’ve watched it like 7 or 8 times lmao

    7. I second Hill House! I love Mike Flanagan’s work, too.

A new season of Dragula (Titans) is starting this week, just in time for Spooky Season! I also like rewatching 28 Days Later and Thirteen Ghosts. Thirteen Ghosts is far from a perfect movie but it’s very nostalgic for me.

    8. Hill House is an annual show for me too. All of Flanagan’s stuff is good but Hill House is a masterpiece.

    9. Tucker & Dale vs Evil, The Addams Family, and The Addams Family Values are my yearly must watch movies for this time of year!

Honorable Mention: The Little Vampire – I often forget it exists but I watch it when I do remember if it’s October lol

I don’t love scary movies, so I stick with cozier spooky vibes. Addams Family and Addams Family Values are classics, as is Casper. Basically early 90s Christina Ricci.

Ready or Not is my favorite of the last couple years and has become a Halloween must watch for me

Scream 2, Heusera: The Bone Woman, Eyes Without a Face, The Haunting (1963), The Burbs, Possession, When a Stranger Calls Back (1993), Slumber Party Massacre, The Loved Ones, Fraility, Halloween, Wait Until Dark, Eves Bayou

The only american horror story season that I think is good from beginning to end is Roanoake, since it’s the season with the most focused plot, and doesn’t go off into too many tangents, and also is only slightly campy.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust has been my go-to for many years now. massive respect to my college boyfriend for showing me that one

    14. Watching Midnight Mass now for the second time since it came out. Bit of a slow burn, but so good.

    15. I know that it’s cool to hate The Walking Dead now, but there’s an episode of that where Connie (who is Deaf) is trapped in a creepy old house and there’s no sound and you keep seeing feral people *skitter* in the background where she can’t see them.

It’s the creepiest fucking thing I’ve ever watched and honestly deserves a lot more acclaim than it got. I really appreciated the extra layer of horror that came with not being able to hear in a scary situation, it was excellent representation and an excellent episode

    16. I watched Coraline at the beginning of the month, The Bad Seed (1956) a few days ago, and way back in July I watched Bring Her Back. I need more spooky movies in my life rn.

    17. I have lots, but Practical Magic is definitely up there. My niece and I have watched it every year, complete with (virgin) margaritas, for 10 years or so (she’s almost 16)

I loved Shining Vale but Starz canceled it after 2 seasons. Luckily HBO Max got the show & it can be streamed there.

My husband has been away for the last couple of days and while I’ve watched Hill House enough to know where all the scares are, I couldn’t bring myself to watch it without him home 😬😨😱

Midnight Mass and anything else Mike Flanagan creates. I love most horror so if it’s extreme or super cute I love it lol

AHS: coven! Almost every fall I’ll rewatch. And then a lot of halloweentown and hocus pocus 😂

    22. Low_Charge_9946 on

Hocus Pocus, Extraordinary and Grabbers because I’m a massive wuss who can only do spooky comedy!

    23. The Shining (Kubrick, but the tv miniseries is kind of charmingly terrible) followed by the OG The Haunting followed by the mash up of The Shining and The Haunting, a.k.a, Rose Red.

It’s been my favorite since I was a kid, now it’s so weird every year I get older than Dewey

    25. My Halloween trio that I rotate through consists of Double, Double, Toil, and Trouble, Hocus Pocus, and Halloween (the first one, a classic).

I throw Coraline in there sometimes too.

    26. CharmingSyrup2685 on

It’s tradition at this point to watch all the Halloweentown and Twitches movies.

The Haunting with Julie Harris is my go to. But I have a hankering for The Innocents this year. And I know what you are thinking but may go back and watch all the Twilights again soon. Haven’t seen them in a while. Oops. Forgot to mention The Birds.

The fear street trilogy (if I’m gonna struggle through scary shit *not a horror girlie at all*…there better be lesbians in it 🤷🏾‍♀️🙌🏾😂!)! And of course…Agatha All Along 😅🙌🏾!

Cabin in the Woods is a household fav. Followed by the OG’s (Halloween, Friday the 13th, the Exorcist).

As 90’s kids will always do Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, etc.

Plus the light hearted classics—Beetlejuice, Addam’s Family, Hocus Pocus, etc.

Just showed my husband Barbarian last night. He hasn’t seen Herditary so maybe that next even though I cannot handle it again 😆 he didn’t watch hill house with me so that too.
