Is LeBron James postponing his retirement for his son Bryce? Here’s the truth. Though the Los Angeles Lakers player is currently on the same team as his 20-year-old son, Bronny James, LeBron says he’s not waiting around to find out if 18-year-old Bryce James, who’s currently playing college basketball for the University of Arizona, will join the NBA. LeBron tells reporters during a Lakers press conference, “I don’t know what his timeline is. He’s his own young man now. He’s down in Tucson. We’ll see what happens this year, next year, but he has his own timeline. But the 40-year-old is still open to potentially sharing a court with Bryce. As he puts it, I got my timeline, and I don’t know if they quite match up, but we’ll see. While LeBron has not given a firm date of when he’ll retire from the NBA, he’s been vocal about what he’d like to do once he hangs up his jersey for good. He told the Hollywood Reporter in June, I would love to explore and if the scripts start to roll in and there’s an opportunity for me to do some acting and I have the time obviously postc career, “I don’t mind looking at it and seeing if I can make it happen for sure.” But LeBron noted that his career shift will boil down to the creative writing and to the role. He added, “If the role is appropriate and I feel like I can nail it, then I wouldn’t mind doing that at all.” For now, the athlete is living in the moment.
