Love it when people call out others to take accountability.

    3. lol “I was there for the people” as if he did it for free like this was charity. What a saint. What a world changer.

as long as jimmy also questions the white guys who did the show, i’ll be ok with this.

“My family validated my rationalization and I’m gonna give money that I probably already have anyway to charity so I can distract from the fact that I didn’t care who paid me and why because I have more bills than I do integrity entirely due to my own lifestyle choices”

Nice try selling it that just because a government does something, the people are good, so it is why he’s comfortable going.

As a Canadian, many Canadians are boycotting the US. For seven straight months now, traffic down to the US has gone down from their 2024 respective months. Do I miss Trader Joe’s and my relatives? Yes. But am I going? Nope.

Also, the whole bringing comedy to bring something cultural to open their minds etc is such a laughable concept. Many middle class or rich Saudis are educated abroad for college onwards. Many of them have exposure to the world. This is not bringing anything new or changing the conversation. What a bullshit reason.

Aziz has found the perfect place for his talents in the vibrant south Asian incel community

a lot of them idealize Arab and south Asian countries because women’s opinions matter less in marriage matters

    8. At least Ansari went on Kimmel’s show knowing he’d face this. Bill Burr is taking the opposite approach: spewing a bunch of defensive word salad at his own microphone instead of facing any single critic or criticism.

At least he has a relative with a direct connection to the country and says the backlash was valid. Still sucks though.

Damn, he really let him get comfortable with his little shit-eating aw-shucks bits before he went in. Ansari’s answers were pure PR fluff and Kimmel was not having it.

Watching this, it seemed more like a prepared vehicle for Aziz to be able to get his “side” and justifications out there in conjunction with promoting his upcoming film. (I did/do not agree with Aziz).

It really rubs me the wrong way how he tries to justify it by saying “I talked to my aunt about it” and “I talked to my wife about it”

Like dude leave the women in your life out of it and own your shitty decision

If you’ve been paying any attention you know that Aziz is, also, “not good people.”

I’m sure he made enough that the redemption tour can take awhile before he’s got to worry too much about work.

It’d be terrible if that paycheck didn’t stretch quite as far as he expected.

    15. You can see Jimmy wasn’t buying any of that, and neither was I, that was such a bullshit answer. Props to him for asking and for the follow-up questions.

    16. While I I think these comedians taking the bag of cash from these guys is trash and all their excuses are as flimsy as a Shein dress, Jimmy describing Saudi’s abhorrent actions I was like, okay yes and the US has also done everything you just listed, are we going to apply some critical thinking skills?? Nope. Still doing USA land of the free propaganda after the US govt LITERALLY HAD YOUR SHOW PULLED OFF THE AIR A WEEK AGO?! Okey dokey!

I expected this to just be a one-off question about it but Jimmy really dug in and just would not let up. I’m impressed. I think the whole cancellation thing really put the power of free media in perspective for him — not sure if he would have taken this approach pre-cancellation.

    18. I consider Master Of None, mainly the second season, one of all time favorite TV shows. Since Aziz has become the douchebag to rule all douchebags I can’t really enjoy it anymore. As a man, can men just not be men anymore?

    19. I’m gonna be a little controversial, and maybe get down voted.
But it’s not exactly fair to tell comedians they can’t do this, or to hold it against them. It’s hypocritical.
We buy Saudi oil yet it’s just business.
We trade with China while they kill uygers, yet it’s just business.
We buy gems from Africa, made with blood, yet it’s just business.
India is trying to erase a culture, yet we outsource to them.
And yes, the answer is that it’s for the money, but we don’t hold those companies to the same standard

So unless you personally stop using oil, buying made in china, wearing jewelry, or using tech. Then you can’t really say anything, because your also conducting business with these people.

Yes these are all atrocities and horrible unjustifiable things, and something should be done. But why does that fall on a comedians responsibility? And how can we expect them to stop doing business with those people, when we’re not willing to do it ourselves.
