Charlie Hunnam on Developing Ed Gein’s Voice for ‘Monster’ Role #charliehunnam #monsterthedgeinstory
How long did it take for you to craft Ed’s voice? Two straws, please. The voice was really important. How do we like manifest and bring forth this guy’s soul and spirit and trauma and struggle in the way he communicates with the world? There’s just this constant desire for acceptance. And I thought that a lot of his behavior would grow inauthentically out of his desire to be the person that he thought his mother wanted him to be. And that was as much like a girl as possible. So it was kind of took some courage on my part because I felt like this voice is going to feel inauthentic. It’s not going to feel like it belongs in his body. And yeah, that’s what I

He deserves an award for that performance ❤
You should keep saying crunchily.
I have enjoyed the show, but I don't understand where he got that voice from. I actually liked how they included the Ilse Koch stuff. I could see people not liking it simply because they don't know the real history. She did every bit of what is described, but much worse. I just don't understand the voice, but I could look past it. The guy playing Hitchcock was actually a little better than I first thought too. I'm personally excited about the Gacy Peacock series.
Didn’t recognize him in the show, he portrays an insane creep quite well. Outstanding acting.
woah ive never seen him in anything outside of queer as folk. his voice reaaaaalllyyy matured damn
His voice was so creepyyy 😅
Much better than his Cockney accent 😂
The voice was so funny and made it hilarious. But done in an excellent way by Charlie.
Bad desition boboo… that Voice is very distracting and not very disturbing, great body tho 😅✌🏾❤
He so handsome❤
The voice was way off, but that's relatively unimportant when we consider the massive holes and inconsistencies in the storyline….and I'm not even referring to the significant amount of fiction in the show. Still very enjoyable though if you can't look past the huge catalogue of cliches.
is this a school for ants
I love Charlie … But this role … was out of his legue unfortunately!
Voice was so overacted…couldnot Watch after episode 6 …to much fiction as well. Goodluck in ur next project Charlie ✌🏾
It was ruined should have been a film
OMG Charlie, you did a fantastic job!! I binged watched!! Another 'gotta see again for sure!! I am amazed how you 'get into' the person of Ed Gein!! 2 thumbs up there!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
He did it man 😮
Ed Gein didn’t sound anything like that, Netflix truly sucks!
Lmao. He will never get ed geins personality right. Nor his voice.
Didn’t know until I started watching that Robin Weigert is in it but every time I see her all I see is Ally Lowen!
Superb performance 💯
Okay but thats not at all what Ed Gein actually sounded like lol
He does an awful comparison to the real accent, he even starts to sound Irish in the police interview 😂
He is so sexy
I’m looking for any video of the real Ed’s voice I couldn’t find it.
I really didn’t like the voice. It was so irritating to listen to, but he deserves a Emmy for this performance.
He is so good playing this character that you feel uncomfortable at times watching this series. I have to turn away sometimes because it creeps me out. Charlie …well done ❤
I love charlie hunnam ❤❤❤❤💋💋💋💋💋
The voice freaked me out. But watching the episodes made sense why this man was the way he was.
You played the part well. I even felt sorry for him in the end
What a load of rubbish. Ed Geins crimes weren’t creepy enough? You have to portray him with a strange voice? Look up his real voice, he sounded normal.
