She swiftly turned the comments off after literally all of them were wondering why her tone has changed so suddenly.

This reads more as an anniversary remembrance than a pro-Israel or Zionist statement to me. Today is October 7th.

Hamas did not kill 1,200 people on October 7th. A significant number of the dead (perhaps the majority) were [killed by the IDF](https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/asa-winstanley/israel-admits-immense-amount-friendly-fire-7-october). We have no idea how many people the Palestinians actually killed because Israel has refused to investigate and much of the relevant evidence has been subsequently destroyed. Multiple Israeli sources have attested to this.

    4. Nothing she says here negates her Palestinian support. Once again the internet cannot handle nuance.

    5. People are allowed to care about the Israeli hostages even while acknowledging the Palestinian genocide. It’s not a zero-sum game. She’s Jewish and the initial attack really hit American Jews hard. I don’t think expressing that pain or the fear of rising anti-semitism, even though it is being fueled in large part by Israel’s war on Gaza, makes her a Zionist or somehow not pro-Palestine. The inability to see nuance is what has got us to where we are today.

I think this is a fair take as an antizionist Jew. Mourning civilians killed in Israel and being vocally pro-Palestine are not mutually exclusive.

    7. Ilana Glazer has been vocally pro-Palestine and has correctly and openly said Israel is committing genocide. That is not mutually exclusive from mourning those who were killed on October 7th. They can do both.

Someone I know died on 9/11, two family members nearly did, and my home was covered in debris for months. It was horrific. Just as I openly mourn every 9/11 that passed since, I ALSO marched against every war waged in the middle east (technically in my name) and will always stand against American imperialism and violence. Nuance is our responsibility as human beings. So is standing against the annihilation of Palestinians or any other group that gets targeted by madmen.

      Human life is human life.

    8. It’s really hard to talk with nuance on this topic, especially on this board, without getting accusations of being Zionist, or pro-genocide. I’m very pro-Palestinian liberation and believe deeply in ending the occupation as well as the ongoing genocide but I also mourn the lives that were lost on October 7. A lot of families are still grieving, and all human life is sacred to me.

I was online that day and saw a lot of what happened unfold live on Telegram and Twitter. While I have no doubt that Israel has covered up many of its own massacres from that day and since then, some of the footage from that morning has never left me. It’s possible to hold space for both truths — to fight for a free Palestine and still grieve the people who were killed on the other side of the border.

Its bullshit to say that Hamas attacked because of some innate anti semitism. I’m sure some of them are but the reality is they attacked because theyve been constantly attacked for the last 70 years of occupation. Just feeds into the bullshit narrative that Palestinians are just naturally hateful and aggressive, same shit that they use to justify genociding them

I’m a jew (although i really use the term and my identity loosely at this point because really something like this boggles the mind) … I don’t love the tone from Ilana. the whole antisemitism is on the rise thing is what bothers me. And again it’s the constant intermingling of antisemitism and antizionism. Which is extremely careless. The comments being critical are totally fair. It’s not what should be highlighted about this day. Yes grief for lives lost but it was the day the genocide against palestinians was moved forward with full force. Their struggle really is what the world needs to come together and focus on. The day has been oversimplified. Sometimes we need to be selfless in our statements.

I pray that one day, the killing will stop from all sides and a new start with a new page. Sadly, it will take a while to know what really has happened. There is a lot of propaganda and dogma involved.

    12. this is blatant Israel propaganda. Hannibal directive HELLLOOOOOOO like hamas did WHAT NOW?

I’m sooooo disappointed. anyone w half a brain in support of palestine would know the implications of a post like this.
